Wraith's CGI-enhanced version of the cinema cut of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is a faithful adaptation of the original.

Back in 1981, Gene Roddenberry was kept at arm's-length due to the mediocre box-office performance of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, not to mention the over-blown production costs of the first film. In a desperate attempt at keeping the costs down, the producers of Star Trek II used miniature models from earlier (non-Star Trek) films, as well as reusing costumes, effects footage and film sets from the first Star Trek movie.

Wraith followed the old adage that "less is more" and has chosen to only replace those film sequences that have been "copied" from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with all of the original Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) film footage being retained and left untouched. This meant that the fanedit film retains the same pace, dialogue and plot structure as the original cinema cut. To be frank about it, Wraith's fanedit is a magnificent work of art with CGI footage that replaces the orbital spacedock, transport pod, warp speed, and Mr Sulu's brief period of "indulgence" (granted, Mr Spock did give Mr Sulu permission to take the Enterprise on a joyride).

The CGI sequences that Wraith produced for this fanedit are not the mediocre visual effects that are often seen on made-for-TV movies seen on the Sci-Fi Channel (or worse, seen in films made by The Asylum film company). Wraith's CGI is motion-picture quality and will undoubtedly impress fans of the genre... and Trekkers.

The devotion that Wraith has shown demonstrates that the FanEdit website will "Live long and prosper"...

Well done Wraith!
