Brief Synopsis:
A story about a young woman who doesn't believe in love and the young man who falls for her.
Intention:
I wanted to create a short based on (500) Days Of Summer which focused on the stages of Tom's relationship with Summer and his gradual progression from an immature view of relationships and personal happiness.
Special Thanks:
Rogue-TheX, matrixgrindhouse and Adabisi for some excellent feedback that helped strengthen and polish this edit.

Cuts and Additions:
I removed the non-linear narrative structure and replaced it with a seasonal chapter structure as used in Kim Ki-Duk's "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter...and Spring" (hence the title). Due to the running time constraint I had to cut a lot of good scenes, including the great dance number. As a result of this, Tom's sister Rachel and friend Paul is no longer present.

Bittersweet edit of "500 Days Of Summer," focuses less on characters, and more on the arc.
Encounter - attraction - fairytale - discomfort.
This was a film I did not care for originally, but it grew on me over the years.
That One Guy catches the essence of Summer's story.
How Mr Right somehow settled into Mr Right-Now, and one can understand why she floated out of reach.
While Tom might dream of a future together, to her, he is already in the past.
The editor has deftly caught the perfect scenes.
Audio is fine. Video - too many transitions are fade out - fade in.

Excellent prequel. In concentrated form, this edit shows how love can prepare a man for the call of crimefighting. Kudos to the editor for the understated and delicate approach, for not showing the Batcave at the edit's close.

Really enjoyable edit. The film lent itself to be segmented like this and the editor did a great job at recognizing it and pacing it out. Complete emotional journey in a short, that's the most a short can strive for. This one hits it. Very nice work.

This was a damn-near perfect way to concisely tell "(500) Days of Summer" in linear order. Every shot and line of dialogue that was chosen by That One Guy was exactly what was needed to move things along. There were a couple little nitpicks I had, but this was very smooth for the most part. Very stylish and I loved the way it was segmented out. Nicely done!
