An edit of the already amazing Spider-Man 2.1 to fix some of the less than great alternate scenes added to the extended cut of the film.
An edit of the already amazing Spider-Man 2.1 to fix some of the less than great alternate scenes added to the extended cut of the film.
Intention:
2.1 was stellar as it was with the added moments such as JJJ in the Spidey suit and the more brutal train fight, but there were 2 moments I felt that were worse than the theatrical cut, so I thought I'd simply fix them by cutting them back into the film.
Other Sources:
Spider-Man 2.1 (2007) for the majority of the film with the theatrical Spider-Man 2 (2004) being used for 2 scenes.

With Spider-man 2.2 Bobson takes an already superior cut of a film but restores the little from the theatrical cut that wasn't broken to begin with, which for most is the shorter exchange in the elevator. When watching the retail copy, I used to have to decide which version I was in the mood for. This cut eliminates that need.
If I have one minor detail I don't like from 2.1 it's the sequence in the train fight where Spider-man gets hit by a train travelling in the opposite direction, he just shrugs it off and continues swinging, that part always seemed a bit too cartoony for me, but I don't see any other complaints, and maybe I shouldn't be looking for plausibility in a film that during many other moments doesn't obey the rules of physics either.
Anyway as I said, this is the perfect compromise between the two cuts so if you are a fan of the Raimi trilogy, it's a must have for your collection.

This was well done. The added material was seamless and the AV quality was just fine!

A highly enjoyable extended cut of Spider-man 2, which shows that choosing which scenes to extend and when to keep the theatrical version is a real art.
Bobson's cut definitely improves both the theatrical cut and 2.1, and as always does it in a technically stunning way - seamless cuts, both audio and video are perfect.
There were no noticeable changes to the narrative, but I was not expecting any. I liked the theatrical cut, and the only thing that bother me now is that most women are depicted as helpless throughout most of the film. Maybe a slight trimming in version 2.3? :)
