Brief Synopsis:
A story about Princess Shuri and her struggle to deal with the loss of family. The theatrical release fell over itself to tell multiple stories about multiple characters, this edit reduces the focus on other characters and remains fixed on Shuri and Namor.
Intention:
Remove subplots concerning Okoye, Everett Ross and others. Reduce the 'franchise building' such as various bits intended to promote Riri Wiliams AKA Ironheart. Restructure some bits to aid pacing and context and reduce bloat.
Additional Notes:
Stereo sound.

Editing Details:
Marvel has a propensity to create messy edits, chopping and changing between different events and characters. some edits were particularly tricky to work with.
Cuts and Additions:
* Cut the first half of the funeral scene, and also brought the drums in to the quieter bits to keep the momentum.
* Added T'Challa's UN speech audio over the marvel logo.
* Removed Mining ship attack for later.
* Removed Ramonda UN speech and mercenary attack on outreach centre.
* Kept T-challa's speech running into the Wakanda intro to juxtapose against Ramonda's isolationism.
* Inserted Mining Ship incident After Lab, heavily edited to give pace.
* Removed Ross' line about execution because it sets up Ross' story that I've mostly removed.
* Removed the flying komoyo bead attaching to the fed vehicle, that detail was not obvious and I'm drastically shortening this chase scene.
* Shortened chase scene, as it's main reason seemed to be to build up Riri.
* Removed Riri doing the same kind of thing Tony did in Ironman, removed the Drone as much as I could.
* I also sped up the ridiculously slow motion water explosion.
* Removed references to Ross' relationship with the woman.
* Removed Ramonda stripping Okoye of her rank. It felt overbearing and built up tension rather than empathy.
* Cut personal moments between Ross and woman in the car, leaving only necessary exposition.
* Removed Ramonda's visit to Haiti (part of it to be reintroduced later).
* Removed Nakia's investigative mission to retain focus on main characters.
* Removed Nakia preparing to infiltrate and inserted Ramonda going to Haiti and appearing before Nakia.
* Removed Ross at the headquarters.
* Cut conversation with Aneka.
* Removed Okoye and Nakia chatting at the market.
* Removed much of Okoye and Nakia being rescue heroes during attack on Wakanda.
* Removed Ramonda and Riri coordinating the rescue.
* Removed cutaways from Ramonda's final struggle, we need to focus on this.
* Removed scene at Ross' house, and the small scene before it that served little purpose.
* Removed Okoye recruiting Aneka.
* Removed the heart shaped herb ritual to shift the impact of her decision to when she appears before M'Baku.
* Reintroduced portions of the heart shaped herb ritual to add weight to Nakia's warning.
* Various cuts to battle to reduce emphasis on Riri.
* Removed various portions of battle to keep focus on Shuri.
* Kept the Midnight Angel portions to the minimum necessary.
* Heavily edited end of battle to remain hyper focused on Shuri vs Namor.
* Completely restructured The montages as Shuri stands over Namor. They made little sense to me, but now contain narrative structure.
* Removed Namor back in Talokan for end credits.
* Removed midnight angel rescuing Ross.
* Maintained Moment of silence for Chadwick Boseman at the end by removing some music.
* Added the introduction of T'Challa jr. straight after this scene, before any end credits.
* Edited credits sequence.
* Put Namor's final scene back in as the midcredits.
* Added special thanks into credits scroll.

This edit was a joy to watch. An absolute improvement over the bloated original. When it comes to the audio and visual editing, I did not personally notice anything that was off except for the battle of Namor and Shuri. It did feel choppy to me, but on the other hand I prefer the choppiness versus the theatrical version. Focusing on those 2 characters helped improve the narrative. This was a tradeoff between the narrative versus technical aspect of the movie.

I largely agree with many of the other reviews that tremault's condensing this movie to focus on Shuri's struggle with family and loss really helped elevate this movie. Why exactly Marvel could not make this obvious decision - particularly after the unfortunate passing of Mr. Boseman truly befuddles me. I also felt the editor would have been better off leaving the message regarding his death after the final scene of the movie versus after the mid-credit scene. It was a bit of an awkard placement.

In terms of Riri, removing her to the extent possible was a great decision. Here you have a character who was intended to be portrayed as an intellectual prodigy, is introduced to the audience in a way that makes her come across very poorly. I mean, throwing objects at a princess of a superpower country does not come across as intelligent to me. I think trimming or removing a portion of the throwing objects at Shuri would help further minimize her poor portrayal.

Going further, I wonder if further trims and cuts can help minmize other areas of the narrative that simply were incoherent. We see plenty of convoluted and contradictory behavior from Namor. He makes various threats, but does not really act all the way through. Another reviewer mentioned the failure to kill Ruri - not just when she was a hostage, but also during the invasion of Wakanda. Why would he also leave Shuri alive when he could easily kill her? He instead reiterates a demand for an alliance after murdering her mother in cold blood. I think of some of his lines throughout the movie should be removed to minimize his contradictory words versus actions.

The editor correctly made the decision to cut down on the excess and filler content involving the American intelligence operatives. I wish they would be removed completely considering they added nothing to the movie and came across as a bit clueless - I mean they blame atrocities on the Wakandans with questionablle circumstantial evidence.

Overall, the edit turned this movie into a solid and fun watch. My personal dream edit of this movie, which is likely not feasible, would be to maintain near total focus on the family relationships while briefly showing all other content briefly to provide brief background information. The tighter it is, the better.

I want to thank tremault for sharing her edit and for the hard work. Making a subpar movie decent is not an easy task. I recommend others who have this to give it a shot, particulary those who had problems with the original to see if this fixes many of problems, which it does minimize in large part.

Thank you so much for the great review! You made some great points and I will take steps to address them. The memoriam message for Chadwick, I will move that. I'm surprised I did not already do that to be honest, I guess it was the mismatch between text and AV elements that made it invisible to me during the process.
I'll look at removing Riri throwing objects, I was so concerned with removing the major sequences of her that I didn't do much fine tuning to the sequences of her that remain. Similar with Namor, I didn't analyse his dialogue to see any consistency problems. If you had noted down any specifics I'd really appreciate any notes you may have.
I'll also have a good think about whether Ross and the authorities can be removed completely. All this will be addressed to some degree when I obtain physical media to replace my digital version. Thank you!

This was such a great watch! I almost didn't even want to watch it because I so strongly disliked the Riri plot and the bloated length of the original, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. This has 100% replaced the original for me.

Trimming the battle scenes was fantastically done, as overly-long fights where you know no one's going to die can be a tad boring. I agree that the Midnight Angel suit was a bit under-realized but it doesn't bother me too much because it still played a pretty good part.

There are a few things that could not be saved narratively, like why fight the Talokians on a suicide-mission boat deathtrap? Why does Namor kidnap Riri alive at all when they were just about to kill her on the bridge anyway? I did somehow get the overwhelming sense that he decided to keep her as a bargaining chip, even if that wasn't stated, and I think I got there because there was less filler between these moments, so you somehow filled in plot gaps for me without even using footage.

By removing over a half hour and keeping Riri's shoehorned screen time down to something like 10 minutes total, you have really allowed me to connect with the real story of Shuri mourning her brother and mother, and unlike with the original I cried at the end.

This edit was a massive success!

Let me start by saying, I have not seen the original, and any lack of enjoyment is because of the plot of actual film and NOT the edit. The edit is expertly done and I have no real complaints. And frankly aside from very VERY few details I honestly would've never known this was an edit. It's that well done.

The only audio fades that were noticeable was once during the opening funeral and once during the Iron Heart chase, I was enjoying the music of the chase but then it faded and felt too short. I could tell something was cut there.

The story never lost me. It never left anything for the viewer to just assume. It's fully being told with no blank spaces to confuse the audience. GREAT JOB.

Apparently there was a subplot with the Hobbit dude and the purple haired lady which I was wondering they hired a more well known actress if she barely had any lines and then I read the changes and was like "ooooh her stuff was cut out...GOOD." Whatever was going on there, I just know it was irrelevant and obnoxious, and I wanted to see none of it.

Midnight Angel got her suit introduced, but we barely got to see her fight in it. I was surprised, but then I was like "oh yeah it was prolly cut." Honestly the CGI was so bad I'm glad a bunch of the last battle was cut.

One line I feel should've been cut was when Shuri gets offered the dress or drink or something and Iron Hearts starts to doing what Disney loves to do in all their stuff, a disgustingly obnoxious amount of name dropping. For no reason IronHeart just start rapid fire talkin bout Disney StarWars Indiana Jones and Snow White which made me want to punch through a door. AGAIN that is an issue with the original film. No knocks against this edit.

What can I say? Honestly I can't believe this isn't already the original cut. The idea that there's more stuff shoved into this movie is crazy to me because clearly it didn't need any of that. Just watch this Fan edit if you want to see a movie that's actually about a character instead of being a commercial for all the other MCU and Disney + Garbage

It's about Shuri, The Black Panther, as it always should've been.

Thanks for sharing your views, I really appreciate it! I'm really sorry about the references to other disney properties, you're not the only person who has mentioned that and I could have taken that out so that's on me.

I was excited hearing Tremault wanted to make a shorter version of Wakanda Forever, as it's one of the movies in Phase 4 that grew on me, & I was interested in a version that was more focused on Shuri's struggles. There were many clever cuts made to streamline the movie, though it kept nagging me that some of the film's heart was being removed.

For instance, I would've preferred a few of Nakia's scenes to have been kept in. They do well to reintroduce her to an audience that hasn't seen her in four irl years, so it made her showing up in the underwater city (& the reveal of her son with T'Challa) feel more hollow than I'd like. While I like the idea of removing Okoye being stripped of her title, there's still a reference to it later in the movie when M'Baku says Nakia will be rewarded for saving Shuri with "lifetime banishment," a reference to that cut plot point. Likewise, that M'Baku dialogue is immediately followed up by Namor's first assault, which happens too fast due to removing the scene of Nakia & Okoyoe seeing each other for the first time in years, both in & out of universe.

After hearing the idea of restructuring how Shuri would see Kilmonger & gain the power of the Black Panther, I was curious & didn't spoil for myself how it'd play out. Unfortunately, I found this new way underwhelming. It feels like a mistake to not see Shuri take the herb & be buried, since that was a big part of how it worked for T'Challa in the first movie. Then, we only get the bare minimum of Kilmonger near the very end, & while it's implied that Shuri seeing him in her vision is a bad thing, it's not spelled out to us until she's literally about to kill Namor, meaning it doesn't get to simmer with the audience.

I wonder if it would've been better if we saw Shuri get buried, then we cut out of the vision before we see who Shuri sees in the chair, so we can enjoy her having brought the Black Panther back. Then, once Nakia asks Shuri who it was she saw, then we cut back to the rest of the vision, with Killmonger speaking out to Shuri's motivation, setting the stage for the final battle.

Lastly, I really didn't care for the Namor mid-credit scene to be followed by "In loving memory of Chadwick Boseman." Massive tonal whiplash. It would've been better if the scene was placed somewhere after the fight (probably right after M'Baku's last scene in the movie, like the original) & the last image we see of the movie proper is the tribute to Chadwick plus credits.

All in all, the edit doesn't replace the original for me, but it makes for a good alternative experience.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it! It's useful to see differing points of view. I never realised there would be some people who would miss Nakia as I felt like she wasn't a strong or present character even since the first BP movie. I also missed that reference spoken by Mbaku completely, I just completely did not get the relevance of what he had said, but now you point it out, I can see how it might be problematic. I can sympathise with wanting to see Shuri taking the herb and being buried. These are sacred rituals so I do understand, but I personally feel that it was unnecessary to dwell on it as it was fairly prominent in the first movie and it made the pacing too slow for me. I also felt like the presence of Killmonger was not felt enough in the movie to dwell on him in the vision. It felt unbalanced for me.
I see what you say about the end credits scene and I wholly agree. I had neglected to look at the contents of those words and consider their positioning and context. That's a mistake. I should rectify that on any future revisions.
I understand your points and respect them and I appreciate you sharing. perhaps I missed the mark with this one or perhaps it's just different tastes. Thank you so much.

Tremault made Black Panther 2 into a very watchable, more enjoyable version. The original was messy with too much unfocused material and lots of cringe.

By removing the bloat this edit removes most of the cringe.

I laughed when the whales first popped up at the bridge and unfortunately there’s very little that can be done to remove them.

And most of all — this edit improves dramatic impact throughout with various scene rearrangement. This is cut the way a good, tight film should be cut. Professionally done.

The new intro especially pays proper homage to the fallen BP.

Visual editing was near perfect. With one of the cuts of the Queen, she mini teleported (as she was getting up). But it did not look jarring in any way.

Audio editing sounded very professional (watched on tv not headphones). There were two audio cuts toward the end final duo battle that sounded like maybe the music shifted but it wasn’t egregious and could be something easily heard in a studio cut.

For me the cuts to the end battle felt overall good — but just slightly heavy handed. Now a lot of that stuff needed to be cut. Tremault cut the right amount to achieve the goal of focusing on The Princess. But in doing so the victory at the end felt a little too easy.

This would be my definitive version except for some issues with audio and video quality. I would have also preferred the release to be in surround 5.1 rather than stereo.

Most of the time the video quality was acceptable, but with moderate to excessive color banding and blocking in some darker scenes, video quality ranged from good to poor. The H265 version of this edit has higher perceptual visual quality than the H264 release and my comments are based on H265. The H264 one alone would have received lower scores.

Notably a scene with really excessive banding and blocking was with the Princess in the astronaut dive suit underwater.

In that scene the sound quality is also noticeably garbled, lacking detail, and with high end artifacts.

The audio compression becomes very noticable in scenes with loud music. Given the high-ish variable bitrate of the AAC file the sound should have been very good but wasn’t.

Overall I loved this edit. Loved it. So much improved.

Thanks
