Honestly, I don't really remember the original version. So I had to brush up my memories first before I could watch this version.

No wonder this fan edit was the runner up for this year "Fan Edit Of The Year". RoccondilRinon did such a good job with the visual and audio editing. You barely see any difference with the original version. The new color-graded footage blends in perfectly with existing footage.

Also, I really enjoyed the subtle SFX addition and the 8bit look and feel. I am not going to detail all the new additions here so I suggest you check the full list of changes and additions on the release sheet.

Other than that, the Scott Pilgrim and Kim Pine relationship cartoon intro is top notch and I really like how it is placed at the beginning of the movie.

To cut things short, this edit is more faithful to the comic book and more true to the characters.

It's so good it replaces the original for me. Sorry, Edgar :)

I loved this fanedit and you will, too.
Firstly, it doesn't hurt that I love the original film. That said, it's no guarantee that I'll love a fanedit. Despite the best of intentions, some faneditors' visions of what would make a great viewing experience just don't match mine. Their changes actually lessen the film. Not so, here. There are no frivolous additions, nothing added that doesn't increase amusement or add depth. More importantly, it's all done with love and attention to the style of the original film, from the very start with awesome custom intro bumpers all the way through to a fun bonus credits gag.

I have seen some nitpicking in a couple of other reviews and I have to totally disagree. With respect, these people need to watch the original film again. They may have thought that the additional lines or scenes are edited in less-than-perfectly but they...are...WRONG. The film is originally full of effects and fast cuts and abrupt transitions and scenes of varying quality. The additions are fit in perfectly here, and if you're still bothered by an edit, a quick pass through Handbrake fixes everything. Try it guys, you'll love it. And for those unsure about adding the animated bits, they flesh out the characters in the film, like the backstory with Kim, introducing Gideon, etc. If you're someone with a terminally short attention span (so much so that even a video game style film can't hold it) then play on your phone and watch this in spurts until you develop that muscle. This isn't a Merchant-Ivory piece: it flies by despite the extended length.

The only quibble I have is in some mild censorship on the part of the editor. A few lines were cut out from characters that mentioned "race" or being "retarded". Someone might find these offensive, but in my opinion it's not up to a faneditor to change characters by cutting out anything they say that the faneditor doesn't like. (Unless reshaping characters is the whole purpose of the edit!) You leave the lines in and let audiences decide if they're offended and what that makes them feel about those characters. Not every character has to be perfectly likable.

All in all, a phenomenal edit that extends and replaces the original film. I recommend this to everyone on the site without reservation. Thanks very much for the hard work, RoccondilRinon!

Everything was perfect in this fanedit. The visual and audio editing is flawless. The added scenes work great. The cartoon at the beginning is not essential, but why not. It's fun. Replaces the original for me.

Scott Pilgrim Vs the Editor is a wonderful edit. I hadn't seen the movie in quite a while before watching this edit, so I didn't specifically notice many of the edits, which is probably a good thing. That said, most of the deleted scenes are of noticeably lower quality than the rest of the movie, which was a bummer, but in terms of visual/audio timing they were edited in so seamlessly that it wasn't a big deal. The only added scene which I would have personally left out was the 'advanced american slut technology' line. I love the line a lot but it has far and away the roughest transition, it's clear from a mile away that it was pasted in the middle of an existing scene. None of these problems really matter though, as there is obviously limited footage to work with and there's only so much that can be done.

Going through the movie I was enjoying myself a lot, but I wasn't sure if enough was added to truly justify watching this edit as opposed to the convenience of watching it on netflix. After taking a closer look at the changelist after viewing, I was pretty surprised at how much stuff I thought was in the original, but was actually added in here. I'll have to rewatch the original soon to properly to get a fuller comparison, but for now i'll say that there's just enough here that I would choose it over the original. All the right scenes have been fleshed out to enhance the emotional core of the movie greatly.

I wasn't a fan of the animation at the start, only because it has absolutely no bearing on the plot, and it isn't really all that good on its own (wouldn't have made me think it should have played before the movie anyway). It's far from a dealbreaker though.

Overall, this is a fantastic edit. Normally I don't bother with extended edition edits, because the effort of downloading and managing a bunch of edits on my computer is a lot of work compared to just putting in a bluray, and normally it's just for a few minutes of extra (debatably beneficial) footage. But this movie is a special case where a lot of the best stuff got left on the cutting room floor, and the reintegration of them results in an edit that's surprisingly better than the sum of it's additions. Excellent job, RoccondilRinon.

This was an exceptionally well done edit.

There were a few moments where the color timing didn't match between shots, and I wasn't a huge fan of adding the animated sequence right at the beginning of the movie. But those are really minor quibbles. Everything else that was added made for a large improvement on a movie that I already liked a lot.

Excellent work.
