A fun speed "run" so to speak, of "BTTF 1&2" in the time loop structure of "Run Lola Run" presented almost like Marty McFly's dream. I wasn't a big fan of the "Run Lola Run" soundtrack just because it's not my kind of music, but it fit the pace of the story and the "Mr. Sandman" song at the end was perfect. I highly recommend "Run Marty Run": another masterclass of visual editing by Blueyoda.

This is going to be basically incomprehensible unless you've seen both the original Back to the Future and Run Lola Run. However, if you remember how both of those plots unfold, then seeing the mashup here is a LOT of fun. Blueyoda very carefully chooses which frames to select for each "run" through of the past, so we don't get much lazy repetition but instead see mostly slightly different parts/versions of the same scenes. It means that a lot of story gets packed very efficiently into a short run time.

How does this work? What does it all mean? I don't really know and don't really care, to be honest. This is an exercise in raw editing prowess and style, not story. The real fun here for me was in seeing BTTF cut in the rapid editing style of RLR, and synced expertly with the fantastic soundtrack from that film. The quality of the footage is less-than-great in a few spots, and I could quibble about how well some of the photo-flash endings worked in terms of clarity, but this is 12ish minutes that every editor should watch imho.

(Oh, and I do love when people use the Video tab here!)

It looks great. I'd guess this was made using the Blu-Ray source as the resultant SD image looks very nice.

Visual Editing: 10
I am in awe of BlueYoda's talent, vision and invention. Truly taking fanediting to a professional level both technically and above all creatively. 10/10 almost isn't good enough for the work here.

Audio Editing: 10
The new music was wonderful, inspired and seemless. Perfection.

Narrative: 10
So, so cleverly put together giving the viewer a totally fresh perspective on the source.

Enjoyment: 10
Loved it from the first frame to the last. I'd almost knock a point off because I was bummed out by the end of the edit by how amateurish my editing skills are by comparison to BlueYoda's LOL

This edit was mind blowing. There was just soo much work done here. I really liked it. The intro work was phenomenal, the B&W flash backs were great. The integration of the clock ticking was amazing.

I think the part that stands out to me most was the audio work done when confronting Biff in the 'third run', that was genius.

IMHO, this sort of editing sets the bar.

In fact, because of what I've seen here, I'm now going to seek out Blue Yoda edits.

Update
Just watched the extras bit. It was nice to see, but when I watched that line in the edit the first time, I immediately knew where the line had come from and what had been done. (sort of a fan of BTTF).

I had also thought some slight frame rate alterations may have been done to make the audio line up with the video precisely - which further backed that this was genius. Good stuff man!
