DK has done an AMAZING job with this edit. Jedi was always my loveable but a tad frustrating entry in the OT. After the masterpiece of Empire, it was always going to be tough to follow it up. And the less capable director, kiddie-oriented Ewoks, and some strangely-delivered dialogue and story points made this a less than perfect film already.

With all that said, DK has done a great job in elevating ROTJ into a more serious, more seamless, and more worthy movie! The edits made the Jabba's Palace scene move more quickly and make more sense, the Rebels interactions with the Ewoks wastes less time, and Han really benefits most from the edit, coming across as less buffoonish!

I still have my own personal preferences that differ a bit from the editor's choices. Putting Vader's funeral pyre after the finale celebration makes Luke isolated from his friends rather than with them (he reason he beat the Emperor– faith in his friends). And it made the transition to the end credits a bit jarring. I'm also not a fan of the original Yub Nub song, much preferring John William's celebration score in the Special Editions. But that's all just me!

The video source is a bit grainy for my tastes too, but it does give it the original release feel. If you prefer that, you'd definitely give it a 10. But most all of the edits, transitions, audio, etc. is excellent! Great work on elevating ROTJ into a better class of film, in all the ways that were possible!

Audio and video cuts are smooth, expertly done.

I disagree with the previous reviewer; I can see no “continuity error” at 0h27m30. I do agree regarding the other (very minor) continuity error, though, at 1h08m55 (Leia’s body and head position), but it’s barely noticeable.

Nice opening crawl. Concise and objective.
Jabba acts much better in this version; damn he is a scoundrel. Boba Fett also looks a lot more competent.
The entire sail barge fight flows much better, with a bit less goofiness as well.

The briefing is a lot cleaner, and things goes straight to the point. A few changes improve the Luke / Leia conversation, and also the Leia / Han conversation.

Great way to fix the Emperor’s surprise!
Also, the Teddy Bear battle has been shortened, it flows better like this. In my opinion, even less Teddy Bears would be a win, but then there would be almost no end battle, so this seems like an unachievable fix.
Han being jealous of Luke: that’s gone, it made no sense in the original.

Great ending! I cannot praise it enough, that is the highlight of this version.
Luke celebrating in the original was insane, it always seemed a continuity error to me. Now that’s fixed, and the last scene really changes the tone, the ending becomes much more powerful.
Overall, the film gets a more mature tonality, as was the stated goal.

The Force is strong with DonkeyKonga! Where do I start? The new title crawl is a breath of fresh air. The pacing improvements definitely benefit scene by scene. The red throne room and red lightning, hell even the red eyes were AWESOME. And of course the alternate ending is the cherry on top.

RotJ was always my favorite out of the trilogy growing up. This edit simply reinforces my love for it. I’ve seen a decent bit of the OT restorations and reconstructions but I can safely say this was my first true fanfix and I’m sure glad it was this one.

I loved this edit! As others have said, it's more mature and fits in better with the other movies as a whole. This will be my new go to version!
