Brief Synopsis:
Another very slight edit of this Howard Hawks masterpiece, with a little more modification than done in my earlier ending-changing Bogdanovich Cut.
Intention:
Integrate into the theatrical cut/voice version (VV) any material of significance that is present (in any form) only in the longer pre-release cut/book version (BV). This includes a few additional scenes, a couple of extra lines in existing scenes and the original ending, the latter of which alone was also featured in the Bogdanovich Cut.

This adds about three minutes to the VV runtime, the remaining three minutes in the BV being taken up with looser editing and inserts of pages of text in lieu of Walter Brennan’s narration. Probably not for the purists, but I quite like seeing this extra footage.
Release Information:
Digital
Editing Details:
• Went through the different versions (with the help of movie-censorship.com) to find the areas of differentiation between the two official versions, found four sections (excluding the un-mutilated ending in the BV) that I considered worth restoring
• Exported 1480×1080 H265 with mono audio, 3.06 Gb file with 130-minute runtime
Cuts and Additions:
• 0:00:00 Removed modern studio vanity plates, added own and fanedit disclaimer
• 1:14:36 Added extended scene from BV, Matt apologises before Groot joins the conversation (~30 seconds)
• 1:25:14 Added BV-exclusive camp scene where Matt struggles to sleep (~2 minutes), adds another parallel between him and Tom
• 1:53:06 Used footage from BV version of encounter with the train, to include the crew’s additional dialogue (~10 seconds)
• 1:55:26 Added BV-exclusive scene, where Matt is approached for a business talk (~30 seconds), personally feel that this quiet moment is a nice breather moment between the grand procession and the plot-relevant discussion that follows
• 2:05:02 Switched to BV to retain uncut confrontation scene, audio faded in slightly earlier during a quiet spot
• 2:08:28 Switched back to VV to keep end credits (not featured in BV), audio faded across later during a quiet spot
