Finally got to sit down and watch this version of the film.

WOW. Agent 9 my friend, you have impressed me again..
This is a great edit, technically is almost flawless.. the coloring, the audio.. the list goes on.
Fantastically put together Blu-Ray and menu as well. Even has the option of an English Subtitle track, that Agent 9 had to type out himself... Damn! Now that's dedication..

There's a few minor problem's with this movie, with a few audio transitions not being completely perfect, and the music is little bit louder than it should be in the end fight sequence, but after all the work put into this, I'm going to over look those minor things.. There's a lot of work, dedication and passion that shows through here.
And to even try and do all of this again in 3D is impressive. (Not that it's done or I've seen it, but that Agent 9 is planning on releasing in 3D is crazy to me.)

Anyways.. There's not much I can say that hasn't already said before, but if you didn't fully enjoy the original cut of Prometheus.. Check out This Special Edition Cut.... It's awesome..

Though I will say and not to be mean, but If you don't like Prometheus at all, it's not like Agent 9 (or any other editor that does these edits) went out and shot a new film.. He just fixed stuff up and made it stronger as a whole.. the movie itself still has it's flaws, but this is probably the best it will be, don't trash someone's rating for a movie they didn't make, just cause they couldn't make it what you wanted, I truly hate this......

Anyways, I'm done babbling....... Great Edit Agent 9.. Can't wait for the next one..

I really didn't care that much about Prometheus so I needed a fanedit to see it fixed.
I just thought "missed opportunity" and moved on.
Then I saw all these posts from new members asking rules-violating questions and that made me think that this must be really something if it attracted this much attention from people not familiar with the world of fanediting. So I had to see it.

The new opening is so much better and it is now more about the mission and less about Shaw's faith, something I felt was handled in such a cliché way. Not showing the dig at the beginning makes Shaw and Holloway look less like hard core fanatics that just travel to the other side of the universe because "they believe"

That religious "because that is what I choose to believe" dream sequence is now gone.
I think you should have cut more of the religious aspect out "we need a true believer aboard" etc.

I always thought that the briefing scene felt stupid; This scientific expedition cost around a trillion dollars and the people hired don't know what the mission is about before takeoff? It is only when they arrive at their destination that they are finally briefed (btw, taking off the helmet bullshit was the biggest failure in this movie imo. and that is not something that can be fixed with a a fanedit) maybe I'm nitpicking, let's move on.

With the two guys left behind it now doesn't feel like "...and while everyone else was off f***ing each other--"

The added scenes with Vickers and the Captain was nice (although when you cut back to Shaw and David it felt awkward) the conclusions that the Captain comes to later on and what he tells Shaw doesn't feel like taken from thin air anymore. Like the filmmakers needed a scene that
explains this and that to the audience and they just came up with something. This feels more natural.

Agent 9 saved this film as much as saving could be done. It's now more connected with the Alien franchise and I believe that is a good thing. The story is now more fleshed out and feel more whole.

If I could change one thing in this fanedit I would change the fight scene between Shaw and the engineer back to the original version. The idea that she would even stand a chance against this creature is really stretching my disbelief to the breaking point. It is so Hollywood, the final girl taking on the big monster. She wouldn't have stand a chance. And the OC was better in this regard.

This is the work of a true faneditor. The deleted scenes had unfinished effects which Agent 9 finished, he color corrected them, they had 2.0 audio so he remixed a new 5.1 track for them. The edit is in HD and there is even a 3d version. This could have been a dvd5 with all the deleted scenes being 2.0 with nothing done to the unfinished effects in them but this really is the Special Edition. Somewhere Ridley Scott probably gets a phone call from the studio saying that there is no need for a director's cut anymore...

This is what the original version of the movie should have been. The edit does all what it sets out to do, within the limits of the source material.

This is the same movie but its tone is darker now. Agent 9 reintegrated the scenes that provide context to certain actions of the characters - actions that seem out of character or out of place given the situation in the original cut. Now it all falls into place and improves the overall narrative, narrowing the focus. The characters are stronger now and more believable.

This is a more powerful Prometheus than the one we have seen at the theatre. One can only guess why Sir Scott decided to downgrade his own creation, leaving us guessing not about the mystery left unanswered but about the plotholes it left. Agent 9's version fixes all of this.

It's a not a tale about a mystery found in the cave anymore. This is the proper prequel to Alien. It doesn't want to give you the same action as Alien did, it wants to show you why and how it came into being. And this version is more focused on it than the theatrical cut.

Agent 9 handles everything with a great respect for the source material and love for its roots. And it shows in the care with which he restores the scenes that have been originally cut out. The video quality is top notch, audio is good but has some problems with fade ins and outs here and there. While it's still good it is the least impressive element of this edit, which doesn't mean it's bad at all. It's just because everything else is so good that small problems with audio simply stand out.

Although I appreciated the use of the Alien score in some place (while it was subtle), it's not so subtle it should have been in couple of other places. I don't mind the score itself but the volume of it is to loud in the scenes that would benefit from more silence instead. As Alien movie itself teaches us, silence is scarier than a score with a volume trying to terrify you. The scene where Weyland confronts the Engineer or the scene where the Engineer chases Shaw are supported by a very loud score that ends up being distracting, and it actually removes the tension or pathos it should provide or enhance.

Thankfully this is the only criticism I have, other than that I wish this was the theatrical version. Maybe someday Sir Scott will decide to restore Prometheus to the glory it never had, but in the meantime Agent 9's version is the next best thing.

There's not much more I can say that hasn't already been said. It's a solid edit that greatly improves upon the theatrical release. Characters behave less silly, the mystery preserved, and a tighter thriller simply through reorganization.

I did knock a point off the visual editing since there was a brief moment when the Adobe Media Offline image popped up. It was only 12 frames or so, but something that should have been caught prior to final build. There may also have been a couple black frames between scenes, but I watched the BR converted to MP4 on my TiVo so it's possible something in the conversion and/or transcode caused those. In my albeit quick scan of the MP4 on my computer I couldn't spot those, so I'm going to go with a transcode problem. I'll update if I encounter the problem on a closer inspection of the file. That said, I don't feel right knocking points off until I can confirm it wasn't something on my end.

In the end this is a very good edit, one that you should consider watching. It definitely improves Prometheus and makes it a much more enjoyable film.

Thx very much..... the video issues you experienced where from a corrupt video file during compression... the old compression was deleted and I have since uploaded new files.

J'ai adoré cette version ! Prometheus est bien mieux avec les différentes scènes coupés et alternatives. Les couleurs sont très belles. Cette est mieux que le film original je trouve. Il y a eu un énorme travail, je met donc une excellente note !
