something about Prometheus i love, maybe because im a big fan of Alien. But this edit was much better then the original movie,it explains things better to me.Agent 9 is a gifted editor and i look forward to more of his work.I could talk about all his Cuts and Additions but he has done a great job in his release info.Agent 9 is one too watch for in his next works and is top on my list.

First and foremost, it should be mentionned that I did enjoy the theatrical version of Prometheus for what it was meant to be : a big scale summer blockbuster movie. Of course, it had its flaws (silly dialogues, non-scientific behaviors, an exploding dead head and two protagonists running away from a giant croissant to name a few).

When it came out on Blu-Ray, I watched it again but kept myself from watching the deleted scenes with the hope someone would come up with a “special edition”. As you may know, a couple of fanedits with the inclusion of the said deleted scenes as well as the viral videos have been released, and I’ve watched them all. What they have in common is that indeed a lot of things were added, not much was cut. And part of what was added was sometimes unfinished scenes/effects...

And then came Agent 9’s Special Edition! Wow, just wow! Not only did he fix the flaws mentionned in my introduction, but he also took the time and effort to complete the unfinished effects of certain deleted scenes and include them in his edit brilliantly! I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll only say this: anyone who watches the edit should “stay tuned” to the very end of the credits, for there’s an exhaustive list of cuts/additions/modifications that made me go “Oh true, that line of dialogue is gone!” or “True again, the exploding head is gone too!”. Speaking of credits, I also very much liked the new opening credits...closer to the mood set in Alien.

One more thing: this edit truly shows the work of a professional, for I did not spot any sound of picture problem (not meaning there is none, I simply did not notice any).

Phenomenal! This is my definite version of Prometheus that I’ll watch again and again! I don’t see how could anyone could do any better than this!

What a pleasant surprise indeed.

I have not watch the original since it came out despite owning it.

I must say, that this was breath of fresh air and pplays extraordinary well. The trims and additions are well judged and seamless. Full marks there. The narrative does feel a touch rushed in a few places but the original would have score a 7 for Narrative and Enjoyment, so both get a big upgrade from me.

I then skimmed through the original... and biy I had forgotten about some of the needles exposition and back story that this edit wise ditches. IN fact, those lements always felt contrived and this edit is better off without them.

Excellent and HIghly Recommended.

I really thoroughly enjoyed this edit when it came out as it fixed a lot of the issues I had with the theatrical.
I love that the engineer fight came back along with the fifield scene and such, really added to it.

What felt wrong with this edit as with the theatrical though, is the colouring and cripsness of the film. This really needed a much more grim feel like the original alien had rather than the mostly sleek hd vibrancy it ended up having.

I also can't work out why every edit of this film I see includes the TEd talk, usually at the beginning, its such an uninspired promo scene that doesn't really set up the atmosphere or the narrative in a meaningful way.

I really don't have that much else to say that others haven't already, and I could very easily just copy+paste my review of Giftbearer onto here if you want to know my thoughts. Like Giftbearer, this incorporates previously deleted scenes into the Prometheus narrative to create a much smarter and more satisfying experience than the version released in theaters, and it does its job very skillfully. All deleted material is integrated into the story excellently and it flows much more swimmingly than before. Again, like Giftbearer, fantastic stuff.
