THANK YOU!

you have singlehandedly made this mess of plotholes, one dimensional characters into something watchable.

you have made a lot of good choices where ridley fell flat.

this has more of a Alien 1 theme now - it's dark and mysterious, it's still beautiful to look at.
it's easier to follow without the constant distractions of poor character choices or gaping plotholes.

but you could go farther:
remove the whole Vickers/Janek One night stand thing, i know it's in there to show vickers is not completely dead to emotion and is unlike david, not an android child of weyland.

SPOILER ALERT
why is the protoxenomorph in the end not screaming out? felt weird...

Negative Points for the 2.0 Mix on Audio, this movie is a blast on a channels - why mix it down?

this has taken the movie from a 6.5 to a 7.9 for me - now i'm looking forward to prometheus 2 again (and if that sucks too - severian can jump in and fix that too)

This was the first fanedit I watched for a year or so and I chose this one, because of the good reviews and because the original was quite a disappointment for me, but had so much potential and atmosphere. I for one had no idea how this one could be salvaged and that's where fanedits come in and are always a surprise how by reordering and deleting scenes a true improvement can be achieved.
For a firstling this was simply outstanding. Video and audio were just fine, no hard cuts or bad audio transitions. The title card was not impressive and my 4GB mp4 was a bit milky, but technically these are the only complaints. Editing-wise this was marvellously done.
I was much more entertained by this version and I can only say thank you for cutting out so much bad stuff, especially the Charlize Theron scenes, resulting in the war of the bitches, which you gladly cut. This was a much better, improved version of Prometheus, still not a great movie, but an almost incredible improvement.
One scene I did not like was the life creation scene in Shaw's flashback. It did not feel right there for me.
Overall, thank you, thank you, thank you, Severian, for taking so much time and turning this movie into a truly watchable one. Well done. Fanedits rock.

Wow! I just finished watching Severian's debut fanedit and am absolutely blown away by the result of his work! I enjoyed the original theatrical release for it's sumptuous aesthetics and foreboding sense of mystery but ultimately left the theater feeling unsatisfied by the open-ended narrative and lack of character development. Giftbearer resolves my qualms about the original by delivering a better paced storyline, a clearcut arc to the plot, and a vastly improved presentation of the motivations behind the actions taken by the various characters. Severian has managed to artfully piece together a nearly perfect blend of theatrical and deleted materials to create a film that simply makes more sense and left me feeling satisfied.

The excellent quality of the editing in general cannot be overstated. The visuals are practically flawless. The sound mixing was also superb except for a single scene where the volume drops pretty low for a few seconds. This happens to be during the one sequence that I didn't think worked as well as the editor intended. Dr. Shaw's dream after her lover's death struck me as being out of place. I could accept the inclusion of the couple's conclusive discovery of the artifacts that led the team to the alien planet. However, the scene showing the creation of life on earth from the DNA lent by the death of the Engineer definitely seemed out of place at this point in the story. I didn't even know this scene was intended to be part of Shaw's hallucinations until I read the editor's notes after I'd finished watching the movie. Fortunately, this scene in NO WAY detracts from the overall impression left by the film!

I believe Prometheus: Giftbearer is a perfect example of what makes fanedit's so very fascinating and fun to watch. Thank you, Severian! I look forward to your next project!!

This turned a good movie into an almost great movie. It still has flaws but it's a much more smart sci-fi film and less generic.

The structure was vastly improved thanks to the deleted and extended scenes. The only part that felt out of place was the flashback sequence after Charlie's death. It was well done, but felt off.

While I enjoyed the original version of Prometheus, I was also frustrated by its total ambiguity. I like when there is some mystery left to ponder or discuss, but in the end Prometheus was just too vague.

In my opinion, Severian's fan-edit fixes the film's overbearing ambiguity while tightening the narrative and characters. Frankly, I am shocked by the amount of interesting and important scenes that were originally left on the cutting room floor (such as the opening talk and the engineer's dialogue). Technically, the edit is well done. I didn't notice any jarring edits or transitions.

The reviews for the theatrical version of Prometheus were decent, but I wonder how it would have been received had this been the original edit of the film. This is an excellent edit that does what every fan-edit should do: improve the original film. In my opinion, this turned a decent film into a great one. I definitely recommend giving this one a watch.
