This is a tremendous edit and almost flawless in its execution. The A/V-editing is perfect, except a few instances that appear when AWE takes over. As other have already noted, the transition from DMC is imperfect. The idea is good and I like the montage, but the fade-to-black feels to quick, too abrupt. I also agree that the audio in the Tia Dalma-sequence dips in quality a few times. DSM2337's cuts are otherwise spotless.

Heart of the Maelstrom is, apart from the nitpicks above, a great fan edit (with a good title!). It improves both films and turns them into a single, action-packed adventure. The Narrative is, considering the amount trimmed, still clear and even more focused. A lot of nonsense is gone. Personally, I feel the wedding on the ship could've stayed. A reminder of the beginning, if nothing else.

Enjoyable and recommended!

POTC 2 and 3 were overlong, confused messes which took a simple premise from the first film and stretched it beyond belief and enjoyment. DSM2337 attempts to simplify the movies, the character's motives and streamline the entire affair into a sub 3 hour movie. It's pretty successful too. The movies look great despite 2 and 3 originally having slightly different color tones. The editing is great, scenes are mixed well and flow really nicely, I didn't notice much of the editing. My only issue is with the plot lines from the second movie leading into the third (or about halfway through the fanedit) being slightly confusing. It's not the editor's fault, the movies themselves were labyrinthine at best. In the end I enjoyed this edit far better than the separate films. Overall it was a great watch, a lot of fun and a worthy end to the franchise. Oh wait, there is another one? Best we forget about that altogether.
