This might very well be one of my favorite fan edits of all time! I absolutely LOVED this!

It's remarkable how well the two films parallel and compliment each other. From both starting on a rainy night, making the events feel so close together, to the ending infiltration of cult operated facilities. It's almost like they could cross over any second! And though they never meet, this still feels like one vast story! The pacing of this fanedit is really incredible. The custom made intro (and ending) credits set the stage for an epic story, and the use of music and expert sound mixing throughout the entire film make the transitions between scenes feel seamless. While it takes a little getting used to, it eventually doesn't feel like you're simply watching two movies playing simultaneously. The way LastSurvivor highlights the parallel story beats from each film is brilliant, and I think really elevate both individual stories. Danny watching the Silver Shamrock commercial is a beautiful touch that provides a satisfying cross over moment. As does the edited security monitors to show where the Cult of Thorne are in their progress.
It's a shame that we won't ever see a proper sequel to the producer's cut ending of Curse of Michael Myers. But somehow, by pairing it with the ending of Season of the Witch, the combined bleakness and loss of both somehow gives a stronger sense of finality.

Like many, I always make a point of watching something from the Halloween franchise around the holiday every year. This year, I watched a series of fan edits instead, to experience the franchise in a new way. I've always liked Season of the Witch, but have often skipped it in franchise rewatches, but that will likely never happen again thanks to this edit!
Recommended pairing: Ryantology's Halloween: 10 Years of Terror and Bobson Dugnutt's Halloween 5: The Haddonfield Harvest

This edit should not work.
On the surface, Halloween 3 and 6 are completely different movies in terms of tone, style and narration. I mean for gosh's sake, H3 has Evil Killer Robots!! LOL. A very different world from the dark slasher horror of Michael Myers. But when one goes deeper, there are many connective tissue elements -- both movies involve Cults, both revolve around an astronomical event, both have a character called "Blankenship" and of course, both take place on Halloween night.

In lesser hands, a hybrid edit of this sort could be over bloated or non-sensical. But this is Last Survivor. And he has evolved into a Master Storyteller. In his very capable hands, he has crafted a lean, economical and complimentary narrative.

Taking the already existing connective tissue and grafting additional elements such adding the Thorn Cult symbol to H3 footage and the Shamrock Commercial to H6, he creates a believable reality that this a shared universe. Plus, an nice background easter egg moment with Kara on one the Shamrock background monitors. This shared universe is further reinforced by Last Survivor's incredible sound replacement and new unifying (and terrifying) music soundtrack.

In essence, LS has taken the best elements of both movies, and created a really FUN popcorn flick. For me, this edit is more fun (Challis is certainly a more likeable character) than either original film.

Technically, LS's work is impressive. Colour Correction. New Aspect Ratio. Image Replacement and Masking. And of course, as already mentioned, extensive sound/music replacement. All masterfully done. Though I think the Curse of Thorn plagued this edit, as I know Last Survivor had serious render issues, thus maybe explaining a few brief moments of video quality issues.

Narratively, as I mentioned above, I like this edit better than either original, but it does have a few minor plot mysteries, though this is mostly due to the source material. For example, in H3 how does Challis know the Shamrock chips with cause all the robots/equipment to malfunction? How did a Cult Member walk right past Tommy but not see him? But the edit is so much fun and well paced, that one can easily miss or forgive this.

And then there is the Commentary. If you have not listened to this, then you have done yourself a great disservice. LS commentaries are always brilliant and often better than most "professional' ones. And this one is no exception, as it is loaded with Behind The Scenes info about both original movies and his editing process. A must listen!

All in all, a very entertaining romp.
Thumbs Up!!! :)

A perfect way to enjoy the two scrappy underdogs of the Halloween franchise. As other reviewers have said, it does feel like a little like two movies running in parallel (the two different pronunciations of "Samhain" in each film is a giveaway, if nothing else), but by the end, it the two Celtic cult cataclysms dovetail intersect and it's a powerful feeling when the twin conspiracies seem to tie together. All in all a great edit -- an abbreviated, concentrated Halloween VI and a version of III that brings it closer to the fold of the rest of the Shape-centric franchise. Watching this will be an October tradition going forward in my house!

I commend LastSurvivor on crafting such a unique take, combining parts 3 and 6 of the Halloween franchise to make something that was greater than the sum of its parts. While the two films gel in terms of tone and theme, the lack of narrative connections or characters between the two does make for some jarring moments, augmented by the clear difference in style between each film. I suggest the fan edit for the experience alone, but Halloween 3 on its own is on my preferred watchlist.

Very enjoyable, both stories intertwined with great editing.
The tone and pacing was consistent, throughout the runtime.
Always had a soft spot for part 3. And to weave the shape into
the narrative, was quite an achievement.
Thank you.
