For a movie that can't decide if it wants to be a misanthropic throwback to the 50s sci-fi movies, a ZAZ-style parody or a 70s celebrity-strewn disaster pic, this edit brings a lot more focus to Burton's original sprawling mess of a picture. This edit zooms by and puts the focus squarely where it belongs -- the Looney Tunes-style mischevious and homicidal men from Mars, the real draw of this movie. None of the human characters are compelling enough to merit any more screen time than necessary, so let's just cut right to the chase and watch those Ack-Ack'ers mutilate and melt them.

Well
I saw this Fanedit along time ago, and I didn't made a review
So, I'll make it now

Mars Attacks! is one of my fav childhood movies, I still enjoy it as an adult
Now, what I can say is that, this Fanedit is very clever
Giving more leadership to a character who was almost a wasted character until the end is not something that I see very often. I have to admit that all that subplots in the Theatrical release are not the big thing. This Fanedit fixes all the troubles that had the original film

Audio Video Quality: 10/10. I saw it in HD, and I don't regret it
Visual Editing: 6/10. Most of the dumped actors' characters are in the main titles, you should make a new main title, or just omit them, and let them for the end
Audio Editing: 9/10
Narrative: 10/10. As I said, I loved how clever is the narrative in this edit giving more leadership to secondary characters who barely has 10 scenes.
Enjoyment: 10/10

Thank you for your review. I'm not really one to complain about ratings, but does the title sequence (which would be way too much work for me to even consider remaking, and features all the big name stars that do make at least cameos in my edit) really push you to give a 6/10 for visual editing?

The pacing was on point. Concentrated absurdity at its finest. Loved every campy gonzo minute of it.

The mp4 version carried a bit of audio/visual asynchrony, whether played on QuickTime, MPlayer or my tibi. But that's OK, because I was too busy chortling to mind.

Bonkers stuff, Reave. This is definitely one I'll have to show to fanedit virgins.

Enjoyjoy: 10 pelvic aerothrusts.

Thanks for the review. Can you tell me exactly where the audio slips? I haven't had this complaint on the mkv version, so I would like to track down the issue on the mp4.

since he directed Batman Tim Burton has long been one of my favorite directors, and while I consider Mars Attack to be a so-so film it's still leagues above his more recent out put. Given the lack of story other than Martians invading earth the original film felt too long so the shorter length here improves the film greatly. However the inclusion of characters that seemingly don't go anywhere is a problem that could have maybe been addressed and I've never cared for Jack Nicholson’s Art Land character. finally being a Brit the removal of Tom Jones is just scandalous :)

the technical side to this edit is flawless and like with many fanedits it was great revisiting a film that I wouldn't have thought about re-watching again.

Thanks for the honest review.

I've left the majority of the cast in, but chose to do so in more of a cameo fashion. They don't get a chance to get a back story, and are therefore just there to move things along, like any other minor character.
