It's an interesting experiment, but I can't help but feel like it's a bit of a mismatch.

The color correction job is phenomenal, the brighter hue being easier on the eyes overall compared to the original's teal green. Thea ctual audio editing is commendable, there are spots where you can hear the original Zimmer score but I was shocked at how thorough the dialogue separation was. The music added is reasonably integrated, Williams' Superman score and parts of Ottman's Returns score used in mostly appropriate contexts (though some parts like Superman and Lois holding hands in the desert could have used silence. and the score would randomly appear). The restructured narrative works just fine and removes some dumb parts from the original, and I'll admit it was awesome to see the new opening credits delivered like that.

All that being said, the biggest issue with the edit is that the Williams score doesn't really fit the movie all too well. Zimmer's score fit with what Snyder was trying to accomplish, this more somber and darker take on the Superman mythos (I don't think it was good but that's beside the point), but the Williams music is too classical and plain heroic to fit seamlessly into this particular movie The direction style, the aesthetic, the writing, it wasn't made with the WIlliams music in mind and it shows clear as day during the entire Superman vs Zod battle. The music is just nowhere near as fist bumpingly intense as it needed to be in order to match, and it feels especially strange to hear the romantic Superman/Lois song blare the scene right after Superman snaps Zod's neck. It's not a bad edit by any means, I recommend this as an experiment to see how different it feels in comparison to the original, but I can't say it's "better" in my opinion.

This is my first review of any fan edit. I am Christopher Reeves fan, and the score was beautiful. I loved the coloring and pace. I did not know other movies were used, so it was very seamless for me. I did notice some old sound effects, such as a flying swooshing noise, which was subtle but noticeable.
Taking the codex away from Kal's blood and into the key, was an excellent idea, and makes more sense when Superman gives it to Lois in the ship. It also makes sense when Zod is dismayed that there is no hope for his new Krypton after the Phantom Zone enslaves his crew; otherwise, Kal's blood would still be viable to use.
I am very pleased with this fan edit.

I thoroughly enjoyed this edit as a way to revisit Man of Steel through a new lens. While I don't feel the John Williams score is my personal choice to score this movie, it's always fun to hear the Superman theme when Superman is getting about, and the tracks were well chosen and very well integrated. Visually, the regrade works, although I did notice some minor artifacts in places, but overall it feels fresh and easy to watch. Not every edit was wholly invisible, but it was never too distracting from the ongoing film. Sources other than MoS were extremely well utilised, and I'm not certain I spotted every single one, and certainly if I hadn't known going in that they were there I don't think I would have noticed at all.

Overall I don't think this replaces the original for me, but that speaks more to my personal preferences than to a question of quality. A really great fan edit that is undeniably an improvement to source material, and definitely worth a watch even if you don't think you need another Man of Steel edit.

Until I watched MoS Remastered I considered 'Star Trek: Vengeance' to be the last word in fanfixes. After watching it I have a new ideal.

What can I say about this superlative edit that can possibly do it justice? It has taken a film I quite honestly despised and made it into something that I can love with all of my heart. The fixes are absolutely perfect, from the re-framing of the narrative, to the regrade, to the masterful inclusion of the original John Williams score which embodies Superman for people of my generation.

Technically this is also a fanmix I was delighted to note, as Brandon Routh makes a brief, but important appearance to save some residents of Metropolis and give our hero some heroic qualities which were sadly missing in the original Snyder cut. Those little scenes make a huge difference to the way you perceive the Man of Steel, showing that amongst all the violence and destruction, he still cares about the little folk and will do everything he can to protect them.

Not everything can be saved by editing. Jonathan Kent is still an a-hole who thinks his son should have left a bus load of kids to drown because the world would reject his true self, but at least his ridiculous self-sacrificial death scene has been cut. It's always galled me that they got the perfect man to play Clark's father, then took a hatchet to his character and made him into an oracle of fear and mistrust. The real Jonathan Kent would have trusted his son to do the right thing no matter what and would have had enough faith in humanity to know that they would accept his son as the good man he was always destined to be. The man Jonathan Kent raised him to be.

This is no fault of the fanedit though, just bad writing.

By the end of this movie I was cheering on Henry Cavill's Superman as he saved the day and felt genuinely emotional at the credits. What a marked contrast to my bewildered ennui at the close of the original.

Only minor downside is some minor technical faults in the encoding. There are some scenes where the grain becomes distracting and a couple where the sky is quite blocky. It's an easy fix and one I'll make for my own personal copy, but it is literally the only thing that isn't perfect about this movie. Barely even worth mentioning really.

This is one seriously amazing fanfix and I cannot recommend it highly enough for people who found the Snyder cut ponderous and joyless. The addition of the seriously underrated Routh as Superman is really just the icing on the cake for me, making this my new favourite fanfix by some margin.
