This was a good edit. The story flowed better overall. The viewer has an opportunity to connect with main character at the start of the film rather than having to wade through 30 minutes of back story.

The edits where logical except for the birth sequence in the opening credits. Not sure anything could be done about that in the type of edit you where going for.

All in all very enjoyable at least more enjoyable then the Theatrical version.

I really enjoyed this edit. The narrative makes more sense and we arrive at things as Clark does. The story feels more natural and it really adds some mystery to the film. I do agree that the opening credits were jarring, but nothing that ruins the film by any means. Perhaps if the flashbacks were more in time to the soundtrack beats?? Anyway, the video/audio had no problems that I could notice and it played fine for me. Well done Avid!

the last time i saw MoS was in the theater. reading this was such a dramatic rearrangement had me excited to revisit this movie that i thought was actually really boring and detached.
the restructure is brilliant. we are more involved with Clark's growing up with the Kents and his journey to become better than what he was destined to be.
there are a couple less-then-perfect transitions but not serious. video/audio quality is also great.
obviously, i enjoy this version over the studio release, i don't need to say anything else.
i totally back MoS:Recut up for anyone else to see.

Man of Steel... All of the pieces for a good film are there, slightly weighed down by overly long fight sequences, and what i see as an inbalance between the importance between Jor El and Jonathan Kent

this edit makes great strides towards these mistakes, flipping the flashbacks, showing the childhood of Clark at the beginning of the film, allowing you to build an emotional connection to the character, making it matter more when he is confronted by his alien roots. this also adds more weight to the krypton sequence, as we can fully appreciate its importance. gives the film more of an emotional impact.

however i feel that all the flashbacks being put into one long sequence at the beginning is clunkier than what we originally got.

the edits are for the most part done comfortably, although there was one very noticeable audio cut when removing the tornado sequence from the cemetery. I also feel that the scene where Jor El explains the history of krypton doesn't have to jump back and forth between Clark and Krypton. it detracts from the sequence, and i think that a voice over during moments without dialogue would have made for a smoother flow. however i am no fan editor and the scene does work. one other minor niggle is that the fight sequences do drag on a bit still.

this fan edit was a wonderful re imagining of the story told, and is definitely my preferred version of the movie. thank you Avid4d, for a great edit.

Splicing the studio credits with glimpses of Lara giving birth felt awkward. I would rather it be kept like the theatrical cut except with a gradual fade-out as Jor-El looks down on the baby. There's a few odd frames that's all black with lens glare before we see Clark in the classroom. The transitions could be smoother in the early half of the movie.

Story-wise, the linear editing to the narrative made it easier to connect with Clark and the Kents. It also made the Kryptonians mysterious and intriguing when their past is explained. Placing the Krypton scenes within Jor-El's exposition to Clark was a good decision because it was repetitive in the theatrical cut, however I would rather the transition be subtle rather than an artistic effect. The edits in the latter half of the movie were very well-done. They felt natural and kept the scenes focused. Cutting down awkward dialogue made the script much better.

Overall, this edit made me like the movie more than before. It cleaned up rough edges while keeping the story and the majority of the movie intact. Sometimes simpler is better. Since the story itself isn't very complex, the linear narrative improved the viewing experience.
