This is ambitious and remarkable work. I have not seen the original film and I also made a point of not reading the changelist above until after I had watched this fanedit.
The Lecter Variations often feels like a Euro arthouse flick in its restraint and quiet intelligence. Looking at your changelist it seems that there was far too little of those qualities in the original Hannibal Rising flick. While I can’t make a comparison with the unseen original this fanedit feels wholly self-contained and nearly always consistent. Gaspard Ulliel is just fine in the lead role, too.
Film is about storytelling – and this edit is a shining example of telling a dark story well without rubbing the audience’s face in pointless violence, gruesomeness or cruelty. Thanks for the effort, CBB.
