“Them!” meets “Alien,” in “Judas Breed”, the new fanedit by TMBTM.

There’s something just a little too familiar here. You might say the film “mimics” some more memorable genre films, in particular, “Alien” and its first two sequels. But that’s ok. Even if it gives you exactly what you expect, it goes about it in such stylishly effective energy that you forget you’ve seen it all before.

The creature effects and cinematography (aided by the use of filters) are effectively creepy, and TMBTM sustains the tension throughout the movie. What the fanedit lacks in originality, it amply makes up for with tight editing. A number of scenes could have been positively ludicrous but TMBTM did what he set out to do: make a fast-paced, enjoyable giant bug film.

It was as boring as the original. I expected a lot more and found myself disappointed.
