Splitting the various aspects of Joaquin Phoenix Joker’s story into separate origins not only brought this version of Joker closer to his comic counterpart but ultimately improved the overall pacing of the film, at no point did I feel that the edit was dragging on for to long unlike the theoretical edition in fact the time just flew by for me I enjoyed it that much and I gained a newfound level of appreciation for each of his character arcs which really stand out better when presented in this narrative format.

It raises all sorts of intriguing questions such as which is his true origin? are they all his true origin? or are none of his origin stories real, is this simply just him trolling the therapist for his own sadistic amusement? the sound layering and transition between scenes was near floorless with the only jarring visual cut being from the 1:07:19 hour mark to the next shot hence why I gave the edit a 9 in the Visual Editing Department.

I did encounter some visual glitches though I am convinced that they may either be the result of a downloading error or VLC Media Player acting up rather than being a problem with the edit itself, said glitches involved the picture freezing and distorting for a few brief seconds before going back to normal though as to when they occurred it’s hard to pinpoint specific timestamps but there was one in Clowning Around, two in Happy and three in That’s Life.

I dought the glitches are a problem with said edit as I stated up above though I'd thought I'd bring it up anyway, this edit is a near replaceable alternative to watching the theatrical cut for me.

Thank you for your review. I agree the cut at 1:07:19 is a bit abrupt, I just couldn't find a better way of cutting the dialogue there. Regarding the glitches, I took another look at the file but didn't see anything, I think it's probably an issue with your media player.

An impressive feat of narrative restructuring, I was totally engaged by this edit. It evokes a more art house vibe, one that works exceptionally well with Phoenix's nuanced performance and complements the camerawork and direction of the film generally.

The framing of Arthur's internal and external stresses in individual subplots gives each a fair weight and plausibility, and the material that is cut isn't missed. The reveal of events is skillfully ordered, I was never thrown out of the narrative. Heavisyde pulls this off masterfully.

The only place where this version shows its fanedit nature is where the opening titles unexpectedly roll in the beginning of the second sequence, but that's such a nitpick in the scope of what this edit achieves.

Highly recommended.

Excellent alternative to the movie. I love how you managed to split the film into 4 separate stories, each one is a self-contained plausible origin story for the Joker, and yet, it still forming a coherent whole. It works perfectly since Arthur is an unreliable narrator, so maybe the truth is hiding between two lies.

I enjoyed this edit quite a bit.
Technically, it was flawless, very nice work.
Narratively, I liked this a lot. I don't think it would be my "go-to" version, but as an alternative, it was pretty great. It kind of has a Trarantino vibe as some scenes are not chronological. and I liked that as well.
Nice work Heavisyde, keep up the good work!

At the beginning of the 2nd Act, the opening titles that remain (because that scene is at the start of the original film) are a bit weird and out-of-place, but they would be hard to remove without destroying that important section. Also, a couple of audio edits were a bit too obvious, maybe they were intentional but still seemed a tiny bit too much.

Now the (many) good parts. The non-linearity here works wonders, because the viewer experiences a portion of what’s happening inside Arthur’s head.

Joaquin Phoenix’s performance is a tour de force and I believe that is even more highlighted by the new four-Act structure. The narrative flow is now brilliant. It’s a different film, a different story and that births several different new perspectives on an insanely complex personality. Also, excluding Sophie was absolutely the right choice.

What an experience of cinema this edit has created; it morphed from an original film that didn’t really click for me (something seemed wrong about the pacing…) to a display of good narrative structure and storytelling.

Many thanks!
