Brief Synopsis:
This edit has focus on Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and removes a lot of scenes from the other characters.
This way the movie gets a higher pacing and reduces the running time by 53 minutes.
And I wanted to change the ending as well
This version all belongs to Neil McCauley.
Intention:
I wanted to tell the story from McCauley's point of view and to change his fate with a different ending.
Other Sources:
Free stock footage of traffic and city shots.
Music used: The game never changes Ambient mix by Kilbey Kennedy
End Credit song: Bringing down the light by Robert Fripp
Special Thanks:
A special Thanks to Heavisyde for guiding both technically and artistically to get the Edit where I wanted it to and finally approved.

and Big Thanks to Malthus and BionicBob for Feedback along the way.

Heat how it should have been. Under two hours and no boring moments.

What an edit! This really goes to show how a fan edit should be done. For me, Heat is an almost perfect film but the runtime prevents me from watching it more often. The fact that the editor of this version was able to bring the runtime down to less than 2 hours and it does not feel like anything is missing really surprised me. He did change the ending somewhat and I'm slightly conflicted by it over the original. If someone had never watched Heat before and viewed this first, they wouldn't know any different. Probably my go-to version now.

I have to say, although I liked the TC, but as so many, I found it to be too long with too much time put into side stories. This edit has everything that is needed in my opinion to show the story, and to show the story surrounding the main character, the anti-hero. The edits make the movie so much more enjoyable and fast paced. After seeing it, I wanted to watch it again with my girlfriend, since the original version was always too long for her ;)

I could not find any editing error, neither in quality, nor in the edit itself. But I was also that much intrigued by the content, that I totally forgot to pay attention to the editing :) Which is another compliment.

Lastly I truly do not know why this edit has this little reviews, maybe because the original version was quite long so that most people do not want to bather watching it again (that almost happened to me) but I can only recommend to rewatch it using this version!
Great job!

So good, i mean, Heat is a masterpiece, but has too many subplots, it can lost the regular audience. Thanks Dawnrazor for removing all the fat and focusing on primary characters without losing the soule of the original.

I love the original version of this film, so when I heard about this edit I was apprehensive, but Dawnrazor did a wonderful job of tightening up the film without losing the best parts. He changed the ending, and I must say it was an inspired choice that will leave you smiling, as compared to the original's ending.

Overall I fully recommend this to those who haven't seen the original or want an alternative version. Can't wait to see what Dawnrazor does next.
