Disclaimer: I've said this before but obviously nobody is going to check the continuity of my reviews... The scale I grade fanedits on is based on the original. I don't believe this edit is a 10/10 film, nor do I believe any film is for that matter.

I'm really not a fan of the 2016 Ghostbusters. I wasn't open to it when it was announced, I wasn't interested in seeing it in theatres, and I begrudgingly watched it with my family when they picked it up from the movie bargain bin. And this edit didn't really change most of that, it was definetely more tolerable than the original, but it still suffered from the lack of focus the original gave us - I'm not sure it would be feasible to make an edit that wouldn't.

However, while I wasn't looking all too close for them, I didn't notice any technical issues in this edit. After reading the cutlist I was shocked I didn't notice any. Actually, I think I did notice one odd transition when Kristen Wiig's character showed up in the newspaper, and the dialogue went "Hey you're in the paper...it's not good. Look! We're on the news!" (paraphrased) - this could be present in the OG and I wouldn't know, but it seemed to be like there was some crappy dialogue that was attempted to cut around there. No technical issues, just seemed a bit too 'jumpy'.

Regardless, if you saw potential in the original/enjoyed some of it, give this edit a shot, you'll probably like it better. If you didn't see potential in the original, this edit probably won't change that. But, if you paid for the movie and want to get your money's worth (or someone in your family did, and you wanna get THEIR money's worth...), you might as well try and give it justice.

Taking the moronic controversy out of the equation, I was not a fan of 2016's Ghostbusters. I hated it, if I'm being honest. Its humor, its characters, its story, its visuals, none of it really worked for me and it angered me something fierce. But as time went by, I felt like maybe I was a bit too harsh on it. Out of curiosity, I decided to check this edit out and, much to my shock, I quite liked it. Almost every change made is for the absolute better. Not only does removing a large majority of the improv, pop culture references, and filler it keep the story focused and have it flow much more naturally and move at a much smoother, less bumpy pace but it also allows the humor to come from the characters, much like the original Ghostbusters films. The characters, especially Erin and Abby, are also more likable and compelling with the improv and out-of-character lines and scenarios -- i.e. especially the dreadful Bill Murray subplot -- being cut out. Even Rowan, as a villain, works much better here, as the changes and edits made allow Paul Feig and Katie Dippold's deconstruction of toxic masculinity to actually have a chance to shine. This is such a significant improvement upon the original cuts it's not even funny. If you want to see a better-realized version of this take on the property, I say give this a watch.

I won't waste time explaining how disappointed I was in "Girly Ghostbusters". It was poorly written, too goofy and the CGI was cartoonish. TM2YC expertly removes all the atrocious improv humor and gives these characters more dignity. The flick is still not my cup of tea, but this version is much more bearable.

Serious major props to TM2YC for his editing skill. There are a bajillion cuts and all of them are invisible.

This is by far my favorite fanedit that i have watched. Though i heard allot of negative backlash about the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, i still decided to give it a shot. In my opinion it's just an awful mess. It's not just the narrative, but the awful jokes and the awful new hip-hop version of the Ghostbusters theme music. Makes me wanna gag.

This version cut out allot of unnecessary filler jokes that made it into the final cut and brought back the original Ray Parker Jr Ghostbusters Theme. Scenes with the main villain of the movie have been cut and restructured so he feels allot more evil and less like a Scooby Doo villain as in the original.

While the cheesy blue CGI ghosts are still there, i gotta admit, i really didn't mind those as much as i did allot of the poor "dialogue" that they gave Leslie Jones' character in the original. The stupid comeback lines and general stereotypical over the top female character that she plays, is one type of character that i simply cannot stand, be it in movies, tv-series or video-games.

However the character isn't Leslie Jones fault, but rather a combination of poor writing and poor editing. With this edit i actually manage to find her character very enjoyable and the dialogue that she has left in this version, which is closer to the original script, is genuinely funny.

I didn't think anything could make me return to this movie again, but this version made me really open my eyes to how much a fanedit can do for a movie. Will diffidently be recommending this edit and can honestly say i enjoyed it enough to want to watch it again.

I didn't hate this movie when it was in theaters but I did have a lot of problems with it. One of the main unchangeable things about it is the weak villain. Just not enough to him, kind of boring. I also hate how under-utilized Kate Mckinnon was. She needs to be given characters with more range, she could do so much.

Some jokes I liked by the tour guide were cut, but making him more purposeful and tonally consistent was a necessary trade-off and makes the set-up more grounded.

The editing is wonderful, love the stream-lining of jokes and scenes in general. It just makes it feel like you're watching a movie again instead of waiting through !COMEDY! to get to story again. It took something I enjoyed already and made it into an actual movie.

I don't like that the big fight between the leads was kept. I didn't like it in the movie and I don't feel like it needed to be addressed in this cut either (even though I am thankful that it's been cut down). The added in deleted scene of them hashing things out in the courtyard feels very stagey for the purpose of emotional exposition. Them putting such on-the-nose clear words to all the themes and problems of the movie just takes me right out of the story. It doesn't help that the noise floor is audibly much louder than surrounding scenes.

I think it works to have them be at odds interpersonally and then things just get better. Without the confrontation, it never really feels that intense of a feud anyway (especially in this edit). They get a little pissed and then they help each other out and are good again. It's like most friendships in real life and makes sense with the lightness of the first Ghostbusters which also didn't really have high emotional stakes. It's not that I don't care that there's this gaping hole, I really don't feel the relationship's arc needs anything explicit to be effective and understood. It's a very simple arc.

Overall, really liked it. Most definitely replaced the original for me and makes for a good narrative comedy instead of an improv fest. Great job.
