When I found this edit, I hopped on it IMMEDIATELY with the hopes that ANYTHING would allow me to think about Game of Thrones and not throw up in my mouth. I would EXTRA recommend this edit to anyone who hasn't seen seasons 7 and 8, I think it'd be a much more enjoyable experience than the originals. For people who HAVE seen, I think it is still better, but it sits in a pretty weird spot for me personally, and I think I'll still be vomiting pretty frequently, but that has nothing to do with what AlmightCutie has done here!

The editing and narrative were all really solid, I noticed a few cuts, but they weren't bad by any means, I was looking hard for them. There were also a few continuity errors introduced by the edit, but dear god was it better than what we got (tO bE hOneSt, i nEvEr rEaLlY cArEd mUcH fOr tHeM; iNnOcEnT, oR oThErWiSe.) so I didn't feel they warranted point deductions.

I was late to the Game of Thrones party, I put it off because I knew I'd enjoy it, and I didn't watch until shortly after season 7 went live. I didn't mind 7, I thought it was alright. I then re-watched to prep for season 8. Since then, I've spent the last year and a half frequenting r/Freefolk which has taken it upon itself to point out every single little error with the entire show, not only seasons 7 and 8 (99% of those errors exist in 5-8) So it's safe to say that my hatred for what Dumb and Dumber did to the show is on par with everyone else's, if not more.

This edit tried to do the impossible, and while I definitely recommend it, it didn't satisfy me. I think the damage and hatred has become too great for me. The custom voiceovers worked pretty well, but ultimately it ended up feeling like a super polished turd to me. No offense to cutie, they did their best, and again, I absolutely recommend it!

I've struggled really hard with how to rate this, as I think season 8 deserves a 0/10 (what else could you give a season that destroys the integrity of the entire rest of the show and renders it completely un-watchable?) I wish enjoyment weren't weighted so heavily, because I would probably give this a 6/10 just due to my absolute hatred for the source materials, and the fact that every scene I re-watched just made me feel the hate all over again lol. However, I greatly respect what cutie has tried to do here, and I feel it would be largely unfair for me to dunk his rating so hard simply because of (in my opinion) the impossibility of his task. So, I've decided on an 8/10, because I know that this really did redeem the final seasons for some people here, and I don't have a problem bumping my own score up a bit to honor that, given the uniqueness of the situation.

Great work cutie, I think your work really can redeem the show for people, and that's no small feat!

This is an amazing edit... The last season of Game of Thrones was so bad it ruined the entire show for me. What this edit shows is that most of that damage was actually done in the last 3 episodes and by essentially removing them and bringing a shortened battle of Kingslanding earlier in the story the narrative is greatly improved. The battle against the White Walkers now becomes the climax of the show as it always should have been.

That being said I think this edit still falls short of creating a great finish for the show, which is no reflection on what has been created, simply the fact that a fan edit can only do so much with the material that exists. However, what the edit does achieve is a satisfactory finish that, as the title says, redeems game of thrones so it can be enjoyed again. A great many problems are fixed with this edit and the extra voice work is surprisingly effective at giving Bran a purpose and creating a more satisfying end to the Night King. Its hard to see what more could be achieved without re-shooting his end (or indeed the entire battle).

I must commend the editor on all the hard work that has clearly gone into achieving this excellent retelling and would recommend this edit as a 'must watch' for anybody who enjoyed the show.

almightycutie has taken disected, mixed, rearanged and sewn back together the various plotlines to produce an entirely new experience for this finale to Game of Thrones. I was so hooked I watched all over the course of 2 nights. Its a remarkable piece of editing juggling that only stumbles once near the end. A scene where the dragon melts the throne feels "off" but then I cannot think of another way to aproach the scene. Given the ambition of this retelling it amazes me that that was the only fault I could find.

This is a very impressive project which recuts and reorders the final two seasons of Game of Thrones to provide a more satisfying narrative structure. While it is impossible to fix the poor writing from D&D, almightycutie has done an excellent job of cutting the weakest, most irrelevant subplots, re-ordering plotlines so that they play out in a more logical sequence, and re-purposing plotlines with interesting results. A very intelligent approach throughout and impressive effects added. The A/V cuts are also all well done.

Additionally, this does feel like a proper full season of Game of Thrones with good pacing, as opposed to the rushed feel of the original S7-8. The approach here was not to cram but rather highlight certain plotlines of more relevance and disregard those that added nothing or detracted. As a result, the remaining plotlines (which have been significantly altered in some cases) feel developed and coherent.

For me personally, this replaces the train wreck of the last two seasons in my mind; it's as if they never happened. Again, great job AC.

I'll start with the flaws, Visions / warging were slightly overused. It wasn't needed in the climactic scene and the end scene order was slightly off. Besides some smaller nitpicks like that, this was a PHENOMENAL edit.
The editor used either voiceovers or AI generated voice to add much needed motivations and dialog, cut together various scenes include what seemed like deleted scenes created a much much more cohesive and satisfying story. Lots of small wonderful details, for example repurposing a scene of snow falling on Kings Landing to seem like Ash falling on Kings Landing, fitting with the updated narrative arc.

If this was the actual aired show the love for game of thrones wouldn't have cratered the way it did. I'm actually thinking of watching House of Dragon, which I had sworn off entirely as a result of how disappointed I was in the show ending.
