(MINOR GOT SEASON 1 SPOILERS AHEAD!)
When Andreas announced he was working on a Game of Thrones edit, I got pretty pumped. Of all the seasons, the first one may be among the most primed to be done for a TV to Movie Edit (I believe 4 and 6 would also be great as movies). The editing here is all really good for the most part. The change in aspect ratio is a very stylistic choice, and it pays off for the most part. Andreas took his time with each crop to make it look realistic and not take anything important out, and it worked very well. While replacing the amazing Game of Thrones soundtrack is something that I immediately resisted, the implementation of Lord of the Ring music worked very well and felt well implemented throughout. I will say, for future edits I would love to see a few themes from GoT mixed in (Rains of Castamere is a must IMO, and I wouldn't mind Jon Snow's theme coming in for truly epic moments).

The choices of what to keep and what to remove worked really well. While the petty squabble between the Starks and Lannisters over the direwolf helped to establish the beef between Ned and Cersei, it certainly wasn't too missed in the edit. I greatly enjoyed Tyrion's subplot with Lysa and the trial of combat that ensued, but I certainly understand why it had to be cut. I am also all for the cutting of a lot of Drogo's character development, as I enjoyed it but it wasn't too necessary to the plot. A few scenes were really missed for me, such as the Stark family finding the direwolves (though I understand having that scene creates a plot hole with the Sansa subplot removed) and Ned bringing Arya to her lessons. Other than those, I thought that this edit was very on point. I couldn't wait to watch through the whole thing, and the character beats and pacing were fantastic. You did a truly great job of making a 10 hour season into a movie length.

I am now hooked and I absolutely can't wait on the second movie! No hurry, though. Thanks for this fantastic edit and I hope you see this saga through to the end!

I've always been more of a fan of the ASOIAF novels than the show which I stopped watching around early season 2. Was quite interested to see this project cutting the seasons down into films, and I'm also a LOTR buff so I was interested to see how the music played.

Overall it's a strong cut well-executed. The music worked better than I expected, but I felt that some of the original music warranted inclusion rather than a wholesale replacement, and sometimes there was just too much strong music constantly without enough time to breathe.

There were some unfortunate digital glitches that others have mentioned, hopefully those will be cleaned up for a better viewing experience but hardly a deal breaker. Also noticeably lower audio quality at a few points.

I thought the narrative worked quite well! If anything I think it could have done with another 20-30 minutes, particularly to develop the Stark children a bit more and make the King's Landing conspiracy slightly less rushed. Strong decisions on what to include and what to cut overall.

Excited to watch the follow-up edits.

What can I say, that hasn't already been said? The edit is fantastic. Each piece of music fits perfectly in its respective scene and none of the transitions are particularly jarring. This edit is a perfect bridge between the RR's. I highly recommend it to any fan of GoT or LotR.

A great edit. The core story of season 1 was told in an exciting and fast-paced way. Some story elements do get cast aside and the extent to which they work varies. For example, by losing most of Arya's story with Syrio it actually becomes a fun twist when her "dancing lessons" turn out to be swordplay instead. Losing the entire journey from Winterfell to King's Landing isn't missed at all. In fact, I'm sure other plot threads were dropped with no major effect on the overall storyline (although it will be interesting to see how Bron's inclusion in future edits will play out given that Tyrion's side plot to the Erie is gone). The only real complaint is that Dany's story feels very abrupt - she goes from being treated as property being bartered to being a well respected part of the Dothraki very quickly (in fact, there are two scenes immediately after each other that effectively show the same thing - they like her, but have no respect of Viserys. It seems like only one of them would have been needed. But truthfully, this is some minor nitpicking - when everything else is spot-on, the minor issues just stand out.

The editing is done well. The inclusion of LOTR music works very well, especially the choice to give each family music related to a specific element of Middle Earth.

Can't wait for the next in the series!

Fantastic edit!! Would recommend this to any one who loves GoT and fantasy films in general! I love the tv show and watched through every season more than 3 times and I can say that this edit for season 1 is fantastic and brilliantly edited! I loved the LOTR music in this as it fits in so nicely but I would love to hear some GoT themes in their also, especially the ending!! I did think there were certain plots that were skipped very quickly and for people that never watched the tv show before might get a bit confused! An example being dany and drogos relationship and Jaime and Neds conflict! A few other minor gripes but that would be only nit picking. I know you can't leave in every plot hole in as it is cut into a 2 and a half hour movie but for what you did it was amazing and did a great job! I am looking very forward to the next seasons of movies you are making and think that you will do a fantastic job on doing so! no rush but would love to see them done before the new season! Once again fantastic edit and can't wait for your next ones! Amazing Job :)
