A great edit. The core story of season 1 was told in an exciting and fast-paced way. Some story elements do get cast aside and the extent to which they work varies. For example, by losing most of Arya's story with Syrio it actually becomes a fun twist when her "dancing lessons" turn out to be swordplay instead. Losing the entire journey from Winterfell to King's Landing isn't missed at all. In fact, I'm sure other plot threads were dropped with no major effect on the overall storyline (although it will be interesting to see how Bron's inclusion in future edits will play out given that Tyrion's side plot to the Erie is gone). The only real complaint is that Dany's story feels very abrupt - she goes from being treated as property being bartered to being a well respected part of the Dothraki very quickly (in fact, there are two scenes immediately after each other that effectively show the same thing - they like her, but have no respect of Viserys. It seems like only one of them would have been needed. But truthfully, this is some minor nitpicking - when everything else is spot-on, the minor issues just stand out.

The editing is done well. The inclusion of LOTR music works very well, especially the choice to give each family music related to a specific element of Middle Earth.

Can't wait for the next in the series!

Having watched only your Harry Potter edits, I am familiar with your brilliant audio work. This heavily translated to this edit as well, as the audio work here is amazing. Just amazing.

And there isn’t much to nitpick. Having watched season 1 three times already, watching your movie version of it felt like something completely else. I totally immersed myself and am very thankful for this experience. I am looking very much forward to movie 2 (?).

(MINOR GOT SEASON 1 SPOILERS AHEAD!)
When Andreas announced he was working on a Game of Thrones edit, I got pretty pumped. Of all the seasons, the first one may be among the most primed to be done for a TV to Movie Edit (I believe 4 and 6 would also be great as movies). The editing here is all really good for the most part. The change in aspect ratio is a very stylistic choice, and it pays off for the most part. Andreas took his time with each crop to make it look realistic and not take anything important out, and it worked very well. While replacing the amazing Game of Thrones soundtrack is something that I immediately resisted, the implementation of Lord of the Ring music worked very well and felt well implemented throughout. I will say, for future edits I would love to see a few themes from GoT mixed in (Rains of Castamere is a must IMO, and I wouldn't mind Jon Snow's theme coming in for truly epic moments).

The choices of what to keep and what to remove worked really well. While the petty squabble between the Starks and Lannisters over the direwolf helped to establish the beef between Ned and Cersei, it certainly wasn't too missed in the edit. I greatly enjoyed Tyrion's subplot with Lysa and the trial of combat that ensued, but I certainly understand why it had to be cut. I am also all for the cutting of a lot of Drogo's character development, as I enjoyed it but it wasn't too necessary to the plot. A few scenes were really missed for me, such as the Stark family finding the direwolves (though I understand having that scene creates a plot hole with the Sansa subplot removed) and Ned bringing Arya to her lessons. Other than those, I thought that this edit was very on point. I couldn't wait to watch through the whole thing, and the character beats and pacing were fantastic. You did a truly great job of making a 10 hour season into a movie length.

I am now hooked and I absolutely can't wait on the second movie! No hurry, though. Thanks for this fantastic edit and I hope you see this saga through to the end!

My wife and I love the Game of Thrones series BUT to plow through all 8 seasons when we need our fix is a lot to ask. I was thrilled to see that someone had taken up the gauntlet of condensing these seasons in to movies. I must admit I was skeptical that a single movie would be able to successfully condense a season down and not lose too much of the nuance of the individual episodes.

I was pleasently suprised. Heck, I was dumb founded that it was translated so well. The music, I must admit, did hurt the immersion some as I am a fan of LOTR and every time I heard the familiar score it did take me out of the moment. To be honest though, after about the 30 minute mark I started not noticing it so much and it became familiar.

Overall, this will be my preferred way of watching the series going forward, unless of course I have nothing like a job, kids, or any other real life things that would allow me sit quietly and watch all the episodes at my own pace.

Thank you for making this and I look forward to all your future projects.
