Brief Synopsis:
A guy named Guy and his buddy Buddy argue about Guy's dream girl until she mysteriously appears to be real. Could this be the moment Guy's been waiting for his whole life? Or could there be some dark secret held by this mysterious girl?
Intention:
This is an edit of Free Guy that aims to streamline the story by focusing on the relationship between Guy and Buddy before introducing more plotlines. Exposition dumps and narration are removed for a less spoon-fed story and unnecessary plot points and cameos are removed for the sake of time and enjoyment. I aim for this to be a much more emotionally impactful version of the film that doesn't retcon itself as often.
Additional Notes:
Audio is only Stereo as I still haven't figured out how surround works but you can rest assured that I'm giving you neigh Blu-Ray quality video at my signature 20MBPS video encoding.

Went into the edit blind. It's a blend of Ready Player One, They Live, the really bad new Matrix film, Pixels with Adam Sandler, the Truman Show, a dash of Her, random TikTok and Fortnite things, and a GTAV FiveM RP server. If that last part makes no sense to you then welcome to being a non-gamer.

The film is the raunchy R-rated version of Ready Player One made for zoomers who aren't even old enough to pay to see it yet, or millennials who wore Deadpool T-shirts to the premiere. But, the film has a heart in the end, a very cheesy one. I liked the ending. The ending is for boomers.
SPOILERS: The ending negated the whole idea of the "Guy" AI being a random match with the girl who actually falls in love with the AI. That story sounds good. But that isn't what happens.

Ninja-Trix has superbly clean editing here. Reading about the cuts he made really helped my enjoyment I think. The edit starts without any info dumps on what is going on, so it plays out a little more slowly, which I like. As "Guy" figures things out, the viewer figures things out too, kinda. I read more about how some YouTube videos and other odd things were cut. Glad those are gone, because some that remained were bad to me. In the end though it is a fun ride that might make a lot of people be like "huh??" but if you stick with it it has a cute and happy ending, something rare these days in good, modern films. It doesn't have anything too deep to say to the audience, though it did at a few moments that I liked, but then the true ending happens and it's a little different.

If you're in a for a goofy video-game version of The Truman Show then this is for you!

Surprisingly one of my favorite fan edits and movie even for a movie starring Ryan Reynolds who while I liked isn't really fan of him and this movie. This fan editor fixed the one big problem that is ruined or held back movies starring big comedians like Ryan Reynold: He cut down the comedian's constant improvisations skits/bits which is a pretty common issue among comedy movies starring comedians. Obviously after the success of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds gets to do long takes of scenes where he is doing nothing but jokes or doing a skit or a running gag which is expected from a comedy but if it was restrained, handled, and directed well. But if the comedian has a lot or maybe way too much creative freedom especially if he is the producer without anyone telling them no and when to stop because the studio thinks anything that they do is funny that is when the supposed funny scene gets bad. So, because of that the ad-libbing and improvisation jokes tends to go off the script and drag the movie longer than it needs to be which not only annoys me but also distracts me from the great story and potential that it had which happen a lot in comedy movies nowadays. Thanks to Ninja-Trix he kept comedy tamed and under control which made me realize how good this movie is that I honestly enjoyed it more than other Virtual Reality game movies like Tron and Ready player One, even though there were obvious fan cuts in certain scenes for example when guy is working at the bank looking at an old couple at the beginning of the movie the film just went silent for a second to cut to guy and buddy talking but that's pretty minor and not so distracting than the comedy from the original.
Overall, this is one of my favorite fanedits so far and recommends anybody to see this movie.

I liked the original but wouldn't watch it again, so when I saw this and their goal, I thought I'd give it another chance. I don't know if its the lack of narration or what but something in the beginning feels off. Like, even though I'm not sure whats been cut, I can feel that there has been a cut. Where it succeeds is definitely the overall edit! My wife and I cried at the bridge scene this time. I found Taika way more entertaining than annoying this time. The humor felt more hit than miss this time and losing the cameos was a good call!

Free Guy is a great movie, but it is BLOATED with content that detracts from the overall story.

Most of this bloat is in the constant interruption of the narrative by TikTok'ers, YouTuber's, and video game "fans" who cheer on "Blue Shirt Guy." Another big problem was the ending... there were TOO many endings and narratives to "wrap up."

This Fanedit streamlines the storyline by removing the needless bloat and presenting what is probably one of the best movies of the year. Perhaps a handful of other trims would improve it even further, but this is not a complaint against the Faneditor..

Nothing trimmed is essential to the story and a key decision of the Faneditor to leave a character "dead" resolves at least one of the excess "endings."

If you haven't watched Free Guy yet, you need to... and this Fanedit is the best way to watch it.
