Finest Hour: A Supercut of Dunkirk and Darkest Hour

Loved both these movies but after watching this definitely believe that it's an improvement to both. Darkest Hour improved with the pace and Dunkirk originally lacked background. A brilliant edit and the picture/sound quality was exceptional.

This is a very good and very enjoyable edit. It moves very good between the movies, cuts here and there and still you see the whole picture without as much as a crack. Very smoothly.
I like both Originals very much, and bringin them together is as Bold as it clever.

The Storyline makes sense, and you see the Political side as well as the "felt" side, beeing the Soldiers that had to live with each and every decision made for them.
I agree with one of my fellow reviewers: It never feels like two movies mashed together, but a well though out storyline.

I will watch both films as individuals again at some point and i will revisit this one too.

This is a brilliant edit. It moves so smoothly between films and tells a complete story. It never feels like two movies mashed together, but a well though out storyline. One of my favorite edits I've seen in a long time.

I really enjoyed this edit. I've always been a bit on the fence about Dunkirk as it contains lots of great visuals but I don't think it carries the narrative effectively. By mixing the two films you get a much stronger narrative to tie the film together and all the excellent cinematography from Dunkirk.

The editor has done an amazing job tie the two films together and edits are seamless and the narrative flows smoothly. Its true that there is quite a change in style between the two films but I didn't find that to be a problem as the Dunkirk scenes felt like they were secondary to the main story line from Darkest Hour. If anything I thought the film could do with a little less Dunkirk and a little more Darkest Hour as Churchill's story felt a little quick at the end.

In conclusion its a great edit and I think its significantly better than watching the two films individually.

I have never seen Darkest Hour, and I saw Dunkirk once in theaters and very much enjoyed it.

Narratively I felt that these films were interwoven seamlessly, despite their vast differences, with no audible or visual discrepancies. If I had not seen Dunkirk, I very well may have thought this was a "real" film, and not a hybrid of two different ones. I watched the digital, colored 1080p version.

My lack of knowledge of the Darkest Hour source material may inhibit some of my ability to critique here, but overall I found myself enjoying the Dunkirk pieces of this edit far more than the Darkest Hour parts, and I felt myself just waiting for Nolan's boys to come back on-screen. The beginning and ending of this edit were fantastic, but I felt that the characters could have been fleshed out slightly more. Considering the length of the source materials, and while honestly I don't remember a whole lot of what was left out of Dunkirk, I feel that it could stand to be just a little bit longer, maybe even just one scene to flesh out the main characters in each movie. 15 minutes tops. I didn't share the characters' feeling of absolute DREAD as much as I did when I saw it in theatres. Nor did I feel as much weight from Churchill's dilemma as I imagine I'd have felt watching the original movie. Despite how well I felt these movies blended together, I can't shake the feeling that something was lost from each of them in the meantime.
