Let me begin with saying that I've watched the original dozens and dozens of times. This is one of my favorite movies and I'll never get tired of it. In that light, because of the lack of narration I often found myself listening closer... and closer... and watching closer... listening for that narration... and because of this, I noticed uncountable details in the video itself that I've never noticed before. Did you ever notice the toilet paper next to the toilet filled with used condoms? Did you ever notice the big metal thing that sits up on the refrigerator? Notice all of those clamp lights scattered about the kitchen? Or how about the saran wrap that lined the trays they were using as forms for soap?

This movie is so much more deep without narration. The story tells itself, it doesn't need narration. In the void of the voice over, I saw a rain forest of details that I never was able to notice because I was too busy listening to and analyzing the voice...

If you're a fight club fan, you must see this at least once!

Visual editing gets a 6 because it's a nice neutral number because there was absolutely zero visual editing. Audio editing gets a 10 because there were zero moments where the audio was choppy or felt edited what-so-ever. The narrative gets an 9 because there is no narration... those parts are missing, but 9 is still a very positive number because it helps the story intensely. Audio/Video quality gets a 10 because it's DVD quality or better. Enjoyment is easily a 10. I may re-watch this edit because it was so enjoyable....

But I could be bias (I am). This is one of my favorite movies ever, after all. :-)

Yiss! This edit is awesome! There was so much narration that this completely changes the film. You'll notice more details. The scene where he is at work, and glares at his boss feels more genuine and awkward, and you get a sense that Edward's character is somewhat of a dick. The plot twists are less jarring.

It really opens it up. The story is better told, and feels better paced and more epic. The story still makes sense, perhaps even moreso, and you will never got lost, even if this were your first viewing. This means that the narration was truly superfluous.

Watch it. This edit should have been more popular.

No narration turns this movie into a completely different experience. It won't replace the 'original', but I'll be watching this version every so often whenever I'm in the mood to watch Fight Club again.

I was absolutely amazed how well this worked. The narration is so ingrained into this movie and yet when it’s gone it makes things... weirder and stronger. Theatrical Fight Club is still superior but any Fight Club fan needs to see this fanedit.

The editing was smooth overall but sometimes it got really noticeable when the center channel would go out. A lot of these awkward silences helped the scene though so no big deal.

This is the first Fan Edit I ever seen on this website (third ever). Fight Club is one of my favorite movies, it caught on at first but after repeated viewings it settled into my all time favorites list. No other movie i’ve seen before and after was as witty, clever, and awesomely shot. Every single scene is perfect and put to good use, it never gets boring. Best thing? It’s a completely different movie after watching it the second time once the twist is revealed. Hardly any movie does that.

Once I heard of tthe purpose of this edit, I had to get it. I’d love to see this movie with yet another interpretation, yet this time without Narrator’s narration. I have to say the author of this edit is correct: it DOES make it really introspective and artsy. Without him narrating, it puts the movie in a different void. You’re left filling in the blanks rather than have Narrator tell you everything. It was unsettling at first, but I got used to it and began to like it. A few places are weird cause they don’t have sound effects when they should, which are places i’m sure is out of the author’s control.

Also some scenes don’t do it for me like when Narrator is explaining A x B x C = X to a flight passenger, which sounds out of place without hearing the whole narration that accompanied the previous scene. Also when Tyler Durden’s past as a projectionist and waiter is being revealed, the narrated lines “Let me tell you something about Tyler Durden” helped introduce those scenes to the audience. In this edit, its a little weird to have Narrator just “narrate” out of the blue in the background after 30 minutes of silence. It would’ve been better, as much as those scenes kicked ass in the original, if they were omitted in this edit.

Overall, I obviously prefer the original cause I do miss that awesome narration. It carried the movie and helped get you immersed in the situations that are Fight Club and Project Mayhem. But this is a must see if you’re curious to see what would happen if “Jack” really did get Laryngitis. Leaving you to figure out some stuff on your own.
