Brief Synopsis:
A straightforward edit that does no more than cut up "The Irishman" at key places, transforming it into a 4-part miniseries.
-
Pennsylvania, 1956. Frank Sheeran, a war veteran of Irish origin who works as a truck driver, accidentally meets mobster Russell Bufalino. Once Frank becomes his trusted man, Bufalino sends him to Chicago with the task of helping Jimmy Hoffa, a powerful union leader related to organized crime, with whom Frank will maintain a close friendship for nearly twenty years.
Intention:
There's no denying that The Irishman is a long film. While I'm of the opinion that watching it all in one sitting is the ideal viewing experience, it's easy to recognize that not everyone has the time, or attention span, to do that. Cutting The Irishman into a well-timed, four-part miniseries, however, allows for the film to be enjoyed in perhaps the second most optimal method. My edit, I Heard You Paint Houses, aims to do just that.

Special Thanks:
@Dunerfors on Twitter, who formalized the concept last year, and provided timestamps for an 'impromptu cut'.

Editing Details:
This is a very uncreative endeavor. All I did was find the places to cut beginnings/endings, and do some minor technical stuff to make it 'flow'.

A conversation with macmilln caused me to realize that I owed them several reviews for years now. I'm a schmuck. I'm sorry.

Just like macmilln themself explain, this is a straightforward edit. An epic cut into bite size chunks. Hmm...now I realize that I owe DonKamillo several reviews...

Nothing is missing here. If you liked The Irishman, but can't endure the long long runtime, this is for you.

Immaculate editing as you would expect from macmilln.

This edit was great. There is not much to say really, it simply cuts the movie into 4 parts, not much more than that. The cuts were in good places, leaving cliffhangers a couple times. If you are a fan of the movie, you will be a fan of this edit. It is a nice way to rewatch.
