Brief Synopsis:
The Beatles have been rehearsing for three weeks throughout January 1969 to develop a live album, and to stage a perfomance for a television special or film. They have not held a concert or perfromed live since August 1966. The group have decided to mount an impromtu concert on the rooftop of their building, without permits and without permission from the city of London.

This live performance was filmed with 9 angles for the 1970 Let It Be film, and later shown in it's entirely in the 2021 mini-series Get Back, intercut with man-on-the-street interviews, or police dialogue. This edit shows the performance as it's own concert film, without the intercutting dialogue, bringing the direct focus to The Beatles, and their last public performance.
Intention:
While I loved the whole Get Back mini-series, I also loved the idea of watching the final concert on it's own as a mini film, without the interviews and the cops talking.

Cuts and Additions:
- added 16mm film grain over the whole thing, as the footage restoration was over-processed and very waxy, this helps make it look a little more natural and 60s
- added new intro text introducing the performance
- added title card
- added new date card "30th January, 1969"
- trimmed film crew getting read
- cut "Get Back" false start (original cut took part of a later take and showed it right at the start)
- cut all man-on-the-street interviews
- reframed multi-cam shots to remove the interviews
- cut all police dialogue
- reframed multi-cam shots to remove cops talking and their subtitles
- removed one random shot of Linda McCartney that's added to the Beatles ending the set (made the album mix out of sync, and is half a second for some reason)
- added title card at the end
- added new credits sequence
Get Back - Take 2 (no interviews)

This was such a treat to watch! The changes you made to the structure, to the flow really, made such a great impact. It was actually really fun to watch the cops impotently try to figure out what to do. Seeing the guys up there having fun in the quality that you provided was fantastic. I think I will rewatch this once a year or so. Excellent work!!

The Beatles' Rooftop Concert has always been one of my holy grails. I love these songs and I love the whole story surrounding this performance. Kudos to Bobson Dugnutt for putting this definitive version together. Highly recommended for any Beatles fans, fans of the Let It Be album, or fans of music history in general.

We've had the story of the Beatles' penultimate recording sessions told in a way that's too acrimonious (Let it Be) and one that's too damn long by half (Get Back) and now finally one that's just the best, most iconic and transcendent bit: the Rooftop Concert, immaculately assembled by Bobson. This is a shining look at this pivotal moment in rock/cultural/world history and is the only version I will need to watch going forward, from all the available POVs. Extremely well done.

One small quibble: a couple of typos and some awkward phrasing in the opening title card particularly stood out due to the care lavished upon the rest of the editing. "preformed" "impromtu" and the redundant use of "without" were a little clunky and could maybe use a second pass. Aside from that, a terrific document of the best day the Beatles had between the White Album and Abbey Road.

I had to float back down to earth to write this - THIS is VERY close to the edit us Beatle-heads really wanted, no cop-chat or narky folks on the street, just the 4 [well, 5] lads playing their music.
I can't possibly thank BD enough for sharing this - but I'm trying here!!
BD - you've improved the quality, not just of this 'gig', but of my life.
For the life of me (!) I just can't understand why a full, uninterrupted gig wasn't at least offered as an extra on the DVD +/or BR release.

If you're alive and you dig great music - this is for you, if you're not then what are you doing reading this??
100 out of 10!
