A moderate edit that keeps the central themes intact but presents them in a less heavy-handed fashion. Some action sequences have been re-cut, FX shots tweaked, and bad/expository dialogue is kept to a minimum, with some scenes rescored to help create a more consistently ethereal atmosphere. Some tweaks for pacing have been made, but the nonlinear structure is retained. One flash forward is cut, another is incorporated as a voice-over, and most are trimmed. The lighthouse finale is left untouched. The 5.1 surround track is preserved and I have also put together an isolated score track.

The main goals of this edit are to:
• rescue these characters (and us) from drowning in a sea of expository dialogue
• remove excessive setups and flashbacks
• reduce over the top moments and dialogue

• refine the story progression without revealing too much too soon

• trim overacting, especially of Dortlich and to a lesser degree, Hannibal

• make Hannibal’s parents more likable (or at least less annoying)

The Thing 2011, Extended and tweaked .

When I contructed "THE THINGS" edit ( a mashup of both the 1982 and 2011 versions), I also made an extended version of the 2011 version.

We all hoped to see the original VFX that were sgot with practical effects that were later replaced in post production, but this will clearly now not occur.

Over the years, I have shared this version with a few on the site, to favorable responses. So on that basis (and yet another request to wither make this oedit or release it), I believe now is the time to re-appraise this film.

The one provisio I make to any who review this is that this was the last Standard Definition edit I made, So please do not scor it down on image on that basis. It was and is DVD quality, and older DVD based edits were not penalised back then, so please bear this in mind.

I will in the fullness of time, make an HD version of this....eventually.

This edit modernizes the film with a new score and color grading. Downplays the preachy tone and reduce the characters over-verbalizing thoughts, fears and motivations, as if this were a stage play. Finally, it tighten ups action sequences and reduces dated VFX.

The film Hannibal is recut to bring the character back in line with Silence of the Lambs, a sick serial killer, not some romantic fellow with a moral code. A drastically changed ending and other recut footage, incorporating deleted scenes, drastically changes the feel of this film.

To make this made for Television film to look like a lost classic in Black/White.

A group of obsessed movie fans of Summer 1999's 'The Blair Witch Project' head out into the black forest of Maryland to tour the sights and history of the legendary witch, which the movie was based on. After a night of partying and drinking, the group wakes up with a loss of memory and the lines between fiction and reality begin to blur... Is it a case of mass hysteria? or is there truly evil in these woods after all..

This edit turns the movie into a psychological thriller rather than a horror slasher, a night of partying and boozing slowly descending into madness and delusions. The movies plot will also now not be spoiled immediately, and all will be revealed within the last 8 minutes of the film, leaving the viewers in a state of shock and surprise - just as the director intended. This edit, unlike the theatrical cut will not spoil anything.
