Brief Synopsis:
If you know the Frozen backstory inside out then this version might not be for you. This version is also not ideal for young kids as they may not enjoy flashbacks. But if you have never seen Frozen or forgotten most of the plot (or wanted to watch it with a friend that hasn’t seen it yet) then I think you might find this version somewhat more powerful than the original.
Intention:
I cut out the backstory from the beginning and added it back in as different flashbacks later on in the movie. That way a lot of the secrets about Elsa/Anna/Arendelle that are mentioned throughout the film are not only a mystery to almost all of the characters in the movie, but they are an actual mystery to the audience as well, up until they are revealed at crucial moments in the adventure.
Special Thanks:
Special thanks to ssj (Space Jesus) for the endless and invaluable technical advice and on getting my edit approved! Also special thanks to DominicCobb and TM2YC for helping me get set up and posting my first fanedit. Another thank you to absolutely all the people working on this website: this a fantastic platform for sharing movie passion, thank you so much!

A fair edit. As another review said, it's a very light edit. Charges are not as impactful changing the narrative as I hoped for. I think this concept could've been pushed further to really transform it into a more mystery, but hey, maybe that wasn't the intention of this edit.

Thanks Raki for prompting me to revisit this film, haven’t watched it in nearly eight years!

While the technical aspects of this edit are flawless and the changes interesting, I still think I would gravitate towards the original as having all the details presented from the outset means that one appreciates certain actions better. You also lose some suspense, and while the parallel is not exact I think it was Hitchcock who sort-of explained how I felt; you get a brief shock when a bomb suddenly detonates during a dinnertime conversation (seeing Elsa’s ice outbursts for the first time after the coronation in this edit) but suspense when you show it under the table five minutes beforehand (the whole backstory in the official version).

Having seen the film before (and remembering it quite well) I cannot be an ideal person to test that theory in this case, and of course the film was still thoroughly enjoyable (though I am unswayed in my opinion that Disney animation reached its peak in 1942). I am also aware of the irony that I am myself preparing a project that re-edits the source in a not-dissimilar manner!

This is a really enjoyable edit. My 3 year old wanted to watch Frozen again and this time I decided to break out the fanedit instead. She...didn't notice. She doesn't even sit through it really after the songs stop. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have seen this way too many times to be a good litmus test for a new viewer but putting that aside, I think the story is strengthened by the reshuffling. It makes one wonder what exactly the root of the issue is. I also think it makes the central metaphor stronger. Instead of seeing Else as a child, seeing her suppress her power and unable to control it basically putting up a neon sign saying "this is about mental illness" instead we see her power, then she panics, and then we learn the backstory which fills it in a bit subtler. Now, I think the neon sign is fine, that's how you SHOULD do metaphors in movies for kids but I appreciate it here more.

Having watched the original already there wasn't much surprise or anything, but I do appreciate this gentle edit. Simply taking that first scene that explains all of Elsa's background and dispersing it throughout the movie as Anna figures it out felt much better story-wise.

The audio and video quality were great. Transitions between scenes were mostly good, though I remember a cut or two being just slightly too fast or awkward.

This edit is very light, and what Raki sets out to do is very successful! I know a lot of people got sick of frozen, but I enjoyed the movie and this edit made it just that much better.
