My least favourite fanedit of TPM I've seen, but still an improvement over the theatrical cut. One thing done here better than in HAL9000 and L8wrtr's edits was the complete removal of R2 and C-3PO.

As I continue on my hunt for the perfect fanedit (for me) for this movie, I have to say this one is good, but not great. I feel like the removal of Anakin's flight at the end messed up the whole ending, as there was neither a story anchor nor a visible reason for what happened. Also, why oh why leave in the virgin birth? But props for doing a great job of removing R2 and C3PO. Their inclusion just upsets me more and more every time I watch these movies. I mean, the fact than nothing happens to anyone not related to the characters of the original movies is such a contrived, BS storytelling fail. Everything else felt pretty good, but it is not going to beat out my current favorite, even though it ticked a few more of my wants overall, it just wasn't as coherent of a story.

Also, having just watched this movie 3 times in 3 days, I realized that Boss Nass is not even a gungan... or at least he bear ZERO resemblance to one. WTF. Also, this has to be one of the worst lightsaber duels in the entire series. Maul could have easily killed both jedi numerous times by just DENYING THEM A SAFE PLACE TO LAND. Stop politely stepping back so that you can all continue. LOL. The whole sequence is so over choreographed and under thought that its maddening.

Anyway, this edit is good if you want something new, but In my opinion under delivers in the narrative by removing to many elements that tie things together.

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the prequels in years, so I can't compare this too well to TPM.

Technically, this edit is flawless and I don't believe I noticed a single issue with the cuts/transitions made.

Unfortunately, I still strongly dislike TPM after this edit. And actually, after watching Fall of the Jedi: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, I have actually changed my rankings of the Star Wars films, and TPM is now in last.

However, this edit did successfully bring the cringe/stupidity of the original down a fair bit, I think it did the best it could with what was given.

I have seen both v1 and v2 of this and have to say the extra work on v2 makes for a smoother and more coherent edit and olays so well in to the aim of Q2's edits not giving away too much for the OT. Great effort. Thanks!

This has to be the best version of The Phantom Menace out there. For the first time I didn't feel like pulling my eyes out watching this film. You actually made Jar Jar Binks bearable, he isn't even annoying in this edit (still has that stupid voice though but hey what can you do). I love the fact that you cut out any mention of R2-D2 and C-3PO I really hated that in the original, why the hell would they think it was a good idea to have made Darth Vader be the one who created C-3PO? And I loathe every time they mentioned R2-D2 saving the day "that little droid did it" and the Queen commending a droid for his great work. I also love how you made Anakin not go into the space battle at all, this really annoyed me and other edits have made it out so that he saves the day on purpose and not by accident, I don't think a little boy should be in that battle at all. Although I would have preferred if you kept the brief scene of Qui-Gon telling Anakin to stay hidden in the ship just so that the audience can know where he is during the intense battle scenes. Great ending without that stupid celebration scene, and you also made Obi-Wan's relationship with Anakin much better. I would have given it a 10/10 but this is still The Phantom Menace and there are things that just can't be saved. Editing like this really makes you realise just how important editing is to a film, this literally went from being a truly awful film in my eyes, I've said for years that this film is unwatchable.. to a flawed but fun film all through editing.
