Dude, Where's My Car? Needs More Shibby Edition
- NTSC DVD-5
I watched the 720p mp4 version of this edit. I do not recommend it. I think it was a bad decision to use 2 different source qualities, the main movie from bluray, the extras from dvd. So for this mp4, I guess the extended scenes were first upscaled from 480p to 720p, then the quality was further reduced to get the overall file size down to 3gb (from, i don't know 15 or 20 or whatever the bluray was). The result is that these extended scenes end up looking much worse than dvd quality.
This might not be so bad except for another choice made in how the extended scenes were integrated. Instead of adding new segments, entire scenes were replaced. So for example, if the movie originally had a 60 second scene and there was a dvd extra that turned it into a 90 second scene - rather than adding the 30 seconds of new material, the 60 seconds were removed and 90 seconds added. So, the reduced quality scenes wouldn't be so bad if it only was on the 30 seconds of new footage, but it was made worse by reducing the quality all 90 seconds including the original high quality original footage too.
So, in the end, there's only about 2 minutes of new footage that's not in the original, but it comes at the price of a very distracting reduction in 7 minutes of video quality. I'll stick with the original.
