Brief Synopsis:
Dark Dimensions aims to trim and cut all of the ill-timed or dated jokes for a more timeless spiritual journey into the Mystic Arts as we experience it along with Strange. Gone is the extended prologue with the Ancient One, the Beyonce jokes and the overly long and drawn out gags to allow for the film to flow a little more naturally with an even tone throughout. Experience the battle against the forces from the Dark Dimension in a more enjoyable and concise way.
Intention:
I wanted to clean up Strange's origin as it wasn't a terrible film, just a bit overly long than what was needed really. There was always a few jokes that always annoyed me, but it wasn't until I started taking notes that I realised there was so much that I wanted to cut and trim.
Other Sources:
Doctor Strange Blu-Ray - The film was sourced from the 2017 issued disc
Marvel Studios: The Infinity Saga Bonus Disc - The alternate ending was featured on this disc, and subsequently used
Doctor Strange (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Sanctimonious Sanctum Sacking was used to fix up the audio in the Kaecilius sanctum fight

Special Features
- Before and After Colour-Grading
- Torn Pages from Cagliostro (Deleted Scenes)
Cuts and Additions:
- cut prologue with the Ancient One fighting Kaecilius and his zealots, now we only get introduced to the mystic arts as Strange does in the story
- cut the Wi-Fi joke with Mordo, instead there's an establishing shot to show a passage of time, and a silent moment as Strange looks at the watch
- cut "just Wong? like Adele or Beyonce?"
- cut the Google Translate joke, made Wong walking past the camera into a wipe transition, a tad Edgar Wright-esc
- cut "Try me Beyonce" and "C'mon she's a big star" and subsequent dialogue
- changed Wong's song while Strange is stealing his books from Beyonce
- trim the Cloak of Levitation grabbing Kaecilius' hand twice while he tries to stab Strange twice
- trim the Cloak's extended scene of trying to point Strange towards the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak
- cut Mordo saying "It's true, she does draw power from the dark dimension", it was a bit too on the nose for my liking
- cut the Cloak trying to wipe away Strange's tears
- cut Wong laughing at Strange's joke about warnings
- cut the mid-credits scene with Thor as it's a bit outdated and shows most of his appearance in that film

The color correction is the best thing about this edit, and it makes it stand out from the others. I feel like the biggest problems with MCU movies are their color grading and their comedic breaks. I feel like the only films that improve on those problems are Infinity War, Endgame, and Eternals. With Bobson's edit, Dr. Strange is added to that. If what he did to this edit is done to MoM I think that film would also improve greatly. The only place with room for improvement is before and after the scene with Strange stealing the books. It just seemed too quick with the music cues.

I always thought that the problem with most MCU movies, are this silly and childish humour, it kills the experience in my concern, and Doc Strange when it released was no exception. Thank God, Bobson managed to get rid of nearly all the lame jokes and the campy moments that take us out of the movie. The result is a very entertaining movie, with a more serious tone, Strange's accident is now more impacting, the atmosphere is more heavy, which makes his introduction to the mystical arts all the more interesting. My only complaint, Strange stealing the books, it's a very cool scene, it's just that the music doesn't really fit.

It was good. Enjoyable. The lack of the Marvel-y humor and such did make the film much more robust an experience, and it allowed the narrative to expose its solidity.
Some issues don't quite work very well, sadly. The altered Strange stealing books from Wong scene doesn't work very well, I'd say. I think it'd have been better to not use music at all, but I'd understand if it weren't possible to do that. Also, the editing truly is not as smooth; the rhythms of the film suffer a bit as it becomes noticeable when something that should be there just isn't. Scars from the surgery, I'd put it.
Still, it was enjoyable and is much more serious and grounded than the original.

I can't tell you how long I hunted for this edit..Completely my fault thought. This edit is the reason I finally really searched and learned how fanedit.org works. How to contact an editor, the excel file with other people who have an edit if an editor is not active and more! And am I glad I did, not just for this edit but in general. I'm a big fan of Doctor Strange and I was a little disappointed with his origin film, because although it was very good in its core, aaaall the silly "Marvel" humor just sucked the joy out of it for me. My enjoyment factor was like a 6-7.

The editor needs no introduction. He is one of the top ones, so I was expecting nothing less than a near perfect work. And that's what I got! The audio and visual editing was excellent! I didn't notice or "felt" that anything was tampered with in any scene. So, technical-wise, job well done!!

On the narrative side, my favorite, this edit is another example of how much a movie can be improved with just a little trimming, if of course the core of the film is good. Just 9 minutes less of silliness, plus the excellent choice of changing the Beyonce song to Queen, made wonders for the movie! Granted, the cloak of levitation still has its slapstick humor moments, but at least now it's at bare minimum.

Thankfully, the origin movie of one of my favorite characters was saved! I most definitely recommend this to anyone who, like me, was disappointed by the out-of-place humor! I guarantee you this will be your go-to version of the movie! If you didn't like the movie in general, then this edit won't do anything for you.

Thank you Bobson Dugnutt and thanks to anyone who read my review!

So, I can honestly fan edit or not, I am not the biggest fan of this movie. It's a fun movie to watch, and I feel it's the one of the most visually stunning marvel movies, if not the most. The story however is still not my cup of tea and I feel like it rushes to introduce us to way too many concepts in very little amount of time.

However, regarding the fan edit. It removes bad jokes, filler scenes and makes the movie as serious as it can possibly be, and i, for one, enjoy that. Is this fan edit the DEFINITIVE way to watch this movie? Yes it is. And you should definitely give it a go.

Great job, Bobson. Thanks for this! Can't wait to see more of your work!
