As a fan of some of Uncanny Antman's previous work, I couldn't resist checking this out. Also it had been ages since I'd last seen it and I'm a fan of the character.

From what I can remember of the original and from what I read in Antman's description of changes, there is a mix of good and bad here from a story standpoint. The tone of the story seems much improved, more serious, realistic, & dramatic. He did a great job cutting out the cheese. Unfortunately the story really falls apart after Electra's death. It may well be that this is an unavoidable consequence of cutting out the cheese, or maybe that is the case in the original too. But in either case the end feels extremely rushed and unfulfilling. They make taking down the Kingpin seem about as easy as taking down a local thug, and Bullseye has no conclusion.

I applaud Antman's efforts on this. It is a great alternative to the original, but it also makes me suspect that there may be no way to salvage the story in this movie.

I only watched the SD avi of this, but based on that I would say the video and audio quality and editing are excellent if not flawless. It isn't 5.1, but that's fine. Its an older movie.

i never saw the theatrical version of daredevil but what i hear was that it wasn't very good and the extended version was a improvement. i've only ever seen this once and that was a good 5 years ago so i can't really compare this fanedited version to the extended cut. all i will say is that uncanny antman abilities as a faneditor are of a very high standard as the cuts and changes throughout the edit are done really well with no harsh cuts to be seen nor heard

the edit however i do feel suffers from having to much cut thus the edit has a feeling much like the theatrical version that the studio has interfered with the film. an example would be the relationship between matt and Elektra they meet at a coffee shop to which elektra walks away without acknowledging matt to much, the next scene they share together is a romantic date. it just smacks as something being cut that would tie the two scenes together. this i feel is a problem throughout the edit, i didn't feel the elektra character was developed enough, it just seemed all of a sudden she's an ass kicking heroin out for revenge.

overall i'm not a huge fan of the daredevil character i'd give the extended version a 7/10 though as i mentioned it has been a while since i saw it and so i maybe a little generous. i don't feel this edit improves on that version but it is a extremely well put together edit that for me the overall narrative suffers from to much being cut.

This is one of the best fanedits I ever saw and makes justice to Daredevil! It cuts a lot of bad stuff and adds the best stuff the Director´s cut has. This was a very pleasant fanedit to watch... Saying more will spoil the experience! Congratulations Uncanny Antman!

Well, hello Uncanny Antman!
Let's start by saying I grew up with "Daredevil"'s theatrical cut, him being one of my favourite superheroes and one of my favourite characters growing up and to this day. But, time has helped me realise, how the film actually was flaw filled. The "Director's Cut" makes the film one of the best out there in its genre, for the most part, and I really think if it were released as it was originally intended it would be widely considered one of the best superhero films. The story serves justice, has depth under almost all perspectives, the acting is good, the action good, except specific scenes we know about, Graeme Revell's music cues are particularly good and so is the direction, which can, though, sometimes feel cheeky. What irritated me of the director's cut was, though, the wire work, which is overused and "floaty", as the fan editor calls it, and some computer generated imagery which was bloated at times.
I, out of curiosity, really, watched your fan edit of "Daredevil", "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear" and was overwhelmed by how much the film could actually be much, much, much, much better! Like, now, really Good! Good with a capital G. I loved how all, every little, minimal aspect was payed attention to, from continuity on all scales, to development, to little details in one shot, but most importantly: narrative importance. And by that I mean you gave weight where it was needed, adding it where it was less. This makes "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear" one of the greatest superhero films out there. Furthermore, the stuffed ending is gone, and in its place a brilliant, round-up which brings the story to a closure, with a warm, heart-felt smile toward the future for Matt Murdock.
I would like to add I was stunned by your ability as a music consultant: all the choices of music were great. The human break between Elektra's death and Karen's contribution, with which eventually the Tazio case is solved and that brings Daredevil face-to-face with Daredevil is one of the best things to happen to the storyline. I also would like to touch upon the seemless edits and tweaking of music, all of which for the best. The film never felt rushed, the action always feels deserved, and nothing ever feels gratuitous or called upon, rather deserved. I would finally like to add I saw this the first time when I downloaded it and in a week I think I saw it more than three times.
I would not have the edit one bit different, but would love an extended edition where Quesada's assassination is showed, without his trial. This would maybe give more weight to the theme of Daredevil coming to ask himself if he really isn't the bad guy. Also, if possible another short scene with Elektra and Matt would be nice, perhaps a short conversation before and excluding the park fight?

In conclusion, this is probably one of the best fan edits out there and my personal favourite of the few I have seen, also thanks to the original material, with which, as I have said, I have grown up with. This is the definitive version of the film, and will change your mind about the film if you thought you didn't like it! Watch "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear" and you will beyond love it!

P.S. The cover and DVD are pluses. Stunning!

needless to say i went to watch this fanedit not expecting much considering both theatrical and director cuts of daredevil are not the best in the way of storytelling but after viewing i can say i really enjoyed the experience.quite a few of the corny lines and terrible cgi wirework shots have been removed, the story has been streamlined to keep the story flowing. i liked the updated musical choices in certain scenes , and the decision uncanny antman went with for the movie to end with the reporter not revealing he knew.
there was really only one scene i had trouble was when he asks electra her name in the cafe' she leaves without saying ,and in the very next scene affleck tells favaraux her name is elctra(i would have shown affleck @ computer printing out a piece of paper ,running his finger across braille and dubbed the word electra in).

i wonder if in the future there might be an electra fanedit, after watching this i know i would watch it. A solid edit worth a view or two.
