With this being my second exposure to the awesome works of Uncanny Antman, following on from T3 the Coming Storm, this edit is as slick as they come.

The origin/prologue sequence is beautifully done, as are the opening credits. The restructuring of the narrative is to dramatic effect and feels as though it should have always been this way. There are perhaps a few transitional scenes missing but this can't be helped and thankfully it doesn't leave the film feeling choppy. I love how the relationship between Matt and Foggy plays out. The directors cut did this well also but everything was too padded out. Action sequences are wonderfully edited to appear more realistic and thank goodness the worst of the CGI is gone.

Some reviewers have commentated that the removal of Daredevil's fight with Bull's Eye leaves the ending feeling a little hollow. I didn't have this problem as it puts all the focus on Matt's loss and him tracking down the Kingpin.

My only complaints and bear in mine these are minor. The film has a slightly depressing vibe. Possibly as a result of one too many humorous moments removed and some soundtrack choices. The Terrance Stamp cameos seem unnecessary and I'm not at all keen on the post end credits sequence. The subtle ending with Matt pondering over the charm was a nicer way to end things.

Overall though this is a fantastic fan edit and now replaces the Director's Cut as my go to version.

I've seen this one before a few years ago, and came back to see Daredevil in all its cheesy glory. UA has done an excellent job here at removing a lot of the fluff, unnecessary scenes and cringe to leave a stronger, darker film.

A/V Quality: DVD quality. Dialogue was sometimes not that clear on my stereo TV.
Editing: Superb. I did not notice any of the cuts, visual or audio. Very well done.

Narrative: Clear throughout. I feel that a bit too much was cut from the legal subplot involving Joe Pantoliano, as I wasn't completely following what was going on there. The final duel between Daredevil & Bullseye was cut, however I now agree with this decision as looking back on it, it wasn't necessary, and there was no reason for Bullseye to stick around.

In addition, the intro is very well crafted, and the DVD extras are hilarious.

Overall, this is an excellent edit that manages to cut a whopping 40 minutes from Daredevil yet remain coherent and enjoyable. Strong recommend.

As a fan of some of Uncanny Antman's previous work, I couldn't resist checking this out. Also it had been ages since I'd last seen it and I'm a fan of the character.

From what I can remember of the original and from what I read in Antman's description of changes, there is a mix of good and bad here from a story standpoint. The tone of the story seems much improved, more serious, realistic, & dramatic. He did a great job cutting out the cheese. Unfortunately the story really falls apart after Electra's death. It may well be that this is an unavoidable consequence of cutting out the cheese, or maybe that is the case in the original too. But in either case the end feels extremely rushed and unfulfilling. They make taking down the Kingpin seem about as easy as taking down a local thug, and Bullseye has no conclusion.

I applaud Antman's efforts on this. It is a great alternative to the original, but it also makes me suspect that there may be no way to salvage the story in this movie.

I only watched the SD avi of this, but based on that I would say the video and audio quality and editing are excellent if not flawless. It isn't 5.1, but that's fine. Its an older movie.

i never saw the theatrical version of daredevil but what i hear was that it wasn't very good and the extended version was a improvement. i've only ever seen this once and that was a good 5 years ago so i can't really compare this fanedited version to the extended cut. all i will say is that uncanny antman abilities as a faneditor are of a very high standard as the cuts and changes throughout the edit are done really well with no harsh cuts to be seen nor heard

the edit however i do feel suffers from having to much cut thus the edit has a feeling much like the theatrical version that the studio has interfered with the film. an example would be the relationship between matt and Elektra they meet at a coffee shop to which elektra walks away without acknowledging matt to much, the next scene they share together is a romantic date. it just smacks as something being cut that would tie the two scenes together. this i feel is a problem throughout the edit, i didn't feel the elektra character was developed enough, it just seemed all of a sudden she's an ass kicking heroin out for revenge.

overall i'm not a huge fan of the daredevil character i'd give the extended version a 7/10 though as i mentioned it has been a while since i saw it and so i maybe a little generous. i don't feel this edit improves on that version but it is a extremely well put together edit that for me the overall narrative suffers from to much being cut.
