This provided a very enjoyable, lighthearted experience. The new plot (provided by ssj in the subtitles) is thin, but the humor more than makes up for that. As the original was a fantasy-tinged love story, so is ssj's take, though the romance is given less screen time. Not all viewers will understand all the references, but they do not detract from the experience.

I loved the idea. It would be great to see more fanedits take the same approach. I had difficulty sometimes with pacing and theme. Long, drawn-out fight scenes don't make much sense to me with talk of orcs, drow, undead in the subtitles. Nevertheless, I still recommend this as a courageous and brilliant fanedit. May imitation be the best flattery ssj receives.

Simply put, the freshest and funniest fanedit idea for quite a while. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was a perfect candidate to be drawn a clown nose on, at least for a fan of deadpan humor as myself, as it's a straight-face film that is thematically solid and strikingly beautiful to look at, yet at the same time quite pompous, and over the top as only a wuxia movie can be. With these elements, watching these characters so earnestly spout out the insanities ssj dared to write for them, and recite vulgarity with the same aplomb as it was Shakespeare, is a match made in laughter heaven. Best culinary ganja martial arts action comedy ever.

Video and audio are mostly fine all through, yet I noticed some image artifact/pixellation at moments of heavy movement (watched the HD version), and a couple of hard audio cuts: at 0:04:35 after "Nocturnal birdwatching. What a strange hobby!" and at 0:06:42, where it even seems to go to total silence for a split second. There might be more instances, but I was so inmersed in the whole experience that I even forgot to nitpick.

And now, ssj, I want MORE. I desperately want you to do that certain follow-up that shouldn't be spoken of for now. And for everyone: WATCH THIS EDIT. NOW. And laugh your asses off.

Like the title says, this is a Tiger Lily version, which means it's all about funny subtitles putting a totally different spin on the original. Here SSJ unleashes his sly and inventive humor on an unsuspecting martial arts historical epic. The idea starts strong and the gags are witty, snarky, absurd, clever, or any and all combinations of those. I enjoyed the pairing of words to on-screen emotions. Even though the gags are operating in a completely different universe, they jibe with the expressions and intonations of the actors. And the alternate universe SSJ builds is delightful, a mashup of Middle Earth, Cheech and Chong, Iron Chef, and many other threads.

The concept continues to be convincing in the desert sequence, where the two romantic leads bicker like air-headed loft-dwelling metrosexuals who really need to get out more often. In the latter part of the movie the gags are a little forced and the freshness of the concept flags a little.

All of the fight scenes are uncut so you can enjoy the top notch acrobatics all over again. There's one chunk cut from the middle of the movie which isn't missed, although there isn't much explanation for why Jen Yu is suddenly on the road. There are a few hints of a plot, something about an egg, but it's almost a throwaway. For enjoyment I give the first part of the movie a 10 and the conclusion a 7.5, for an overall 9 stars.

Also, don't miss the supplemental clip. It's a press conference with Michelle Yeoh that gets the same Tiger Lily treatment as the movie and is equally as funny.
