Tremault has single-handedly saved one of the worst and most indifferent films of the entire MCU with this edit. Obviously, nothing could be done about Brie Larson’s smug face, but thanks to some very clever cuts, Carol Danvers comes off as a much more likeable character than she originally was. And she actually has an arc! She is no more the all-powerful being kept at bay by mere deception. She now has to unlock her true potential through human relationship and, I have to say, the montage which establishes that is brilliantly done by the editor.

But more importantly, this edit gets rid of one of the worst MCU jokes ever; Fury losing his eye by an alien cat! It’s ridiculous and, sadly, that’s a new standard in latest MCU additions. So, thank you for that, Tremault! Just some food for thought if there’s ever an updated version… You can, maybe, further improve that with some scene rearrangement; having Fury cursing and Rambeau asking him if he’s okay just as Yon-Rogg fires against their plane, pass it off as some kind of injury because of the hit.

Technically, all changes are well-done, and I could only spot two minor things: First, the added scenes were of a slightly lower-quality, but that’s to be expected, I guess. Secondly, the whole sound mix during the newly orchestrated Violet scene is a notch louder than it should be, I think, but I would take that instead of that in-your-face “Just a Girl” soundtrack any day of the week! Finally, I must confess that I wouldn’t mind if a couple more jokes were missing, especially when it comes to Fury, keeping him more in line with his older self. But that’s just me, wanting a more serious experience with my superhero films.

All in all, this is a vast improvement over the original and a must-see!

UPDATE: I had to take the audio/video quality up a point -from a nine to a ten- after watching Tremault's newest version with the enhanced deleted scenes integrated into the film. It's always been a minor point, but the update was more than welcome!

Fantastic edit! I am one of those people that hated captain marvel mainly for its 'subversion' of how Nick lost his eye, the overly preachy annoying Hollywood Feminism (men bad & women have no flaws at all) making Carol unlikable and bland, as well as bad pacing and jokes. Thankfully tremault has tackled most of these issues making Carol feel more likeable, the main theme is more focused and feels more tidy and like a actual mcu movie. The inclusions of the deleted scenes are welcomed as well as a much better colour grading. Another part I loved about this edit was replacing the fight song 'just a girl' which just didn't fit the action and was just cringy. I also appreciate trying to fix the whole Nicks eye thing so that this movie doesn't gives its stupid answer and instead still lets the viewer theorise. In general, this edit is fantastic and my go-to version.

A Fantastic edit of Captain Marvel! I never really liked the original, and this edit addresses most of the flaws I saw in that original cut. While still not a top tier Marvel movie, this edit really does all it can, and brings the movie up from mediocre at best to actually pretty good. My only critique of the edit itself is the lack of 5.1 audio. Audio and video cuts themselves are done well, and aren't really noticeable unless you have experience with the film and know what to look for.

Again, this is a fantastic edit, and I will be using this cut for all of my future MCU watch-throughs!

Captain Marvel has always been a very middle of the road MCU film, a simplistic Phase 1 style film stuck in the much more nuanced Phase 3. There were never any major plot related issues with the film like there were with other not so good entries (looking at you 'The Dark World') only moments that pull you out of the film in order to directly tell the audience something rather than just trusting their own film to do so.

This edit makes no massive changes to the plot, unlike some, instead tidies it up in a way that feels like a actual MCU editor would. Additional, some of the other changes, such as the subtle colour grading, do a better job at informing the story than the original ever did. What it does do it reframe the story relating to family (the Kree supplied family vs the found family on Earth) rather than a loner muddling her way through a story which is bound to play in better with the sequel which will be about the Marvel family.

Technically the edits are integrated as well as can be expected from a home level of technology and very few changes stand out in any way unless the viewer has a forensic level of familiarity with the original. There's occasions where there's drops in the sound mixing but it's not really something that can be got around without the raw filmstock.

Plus, two of my suggestions made it into the edit so there's that.

I am someone who despises the Original Captain Marvel. Awful movie with bad pacing and being all over the place not to mention cringe jokes and bashing men because "All women are queens and have no flaws what so ever!" That being said this edit raises my 2/10 to a 7/10 on this movie. It fixes as much as it can and I helped contribute as much feedback as I could to make this the best possible edit you can get out of the movie. This edit will make Carol a bit more of a likeable character and even gives a new theme to the film where its the friendships and love you have along the way that matter and make you stronger. A much better message. Overall, if you want a better version of this film look no further than here.
