AWESOME!
This was fantastic and the high contrast black and white looked amazing. I very highly recommend this edit of this movie. I've never been a huge Blade Runner fan, so I have not seen it more than once or twice, so I was really watching this more or less without previous knowledge. I was worried that there would be plot problems in focusing on the replicants, but there are no plot holes that I noticed at all.
This feels like an excellent art house sci-fi movie. And your title is perfect! I didn't even get it until Roy Batty speaks the words near the end. This was one of my favorite fanedits I have watched. It was the right length too. It would have been easy for you to pad this, but I appreciated that you stuck to the story you were telling. Just damned good all around!

This Review will be fairly short and sweet. The reason being that I have not seen Blade Runner in a number of years even though the director's sits right there on my shelf. Therefore I can't really talk about the changes that were made. Suffice to say I didn't detect any audio or video cuts or changes, which tells me that Ranger613 knows what he is doing.

What can I say about this edit? I thought it was a great noir, sci-fi piece and the suspense built naturally throughout. The length of this edit felt just about right for me given the editor's goals.

The only one thing that felt a little awkward was the unfulfilled relationship between Deckard and Rachel. Even though my memory of this film was very dim, prior to this viewing, it felt as if something was missing or removed in that area of the plot. Other than that one small nitpick, I thought this was a great edit and the choice of B & W hit the mark, giving the film a very noir atmosphere.

Well done sir

I don't watch as many fanedits I should these days, but there are some that people obviously want to see, and it appears that me too!

Why some fanedits brings a lot of interest?
- Clever take on a very well known and loved movie: check.
- Smart editing (here: reorganization of some scenes that feel like if they still happen in chronological order): check.
- A strong visual change that serves the purpose of the movie (here the B&W): check.
- A narrative that still works very well despite a lot of cuts: check.

Some minor things that bugs me a little:
- Some pixelate picture from time to time. But overall it's beautiful. Just a bit too much compression on the smoke, the fog... things like that.
- We see a police flying car stopping by the roof top in the background during the last scene (Roy's face down - blurry car in the background). It's not jarring as it is, but it made me think about what comes next in the original movie.
- Movie's maybe a bit too short now, but hey it's the price for having this interesting new take.

Of course I loved the relation between Deckard and Rachel in the original (it's the soul of the movie to me) but somehow THIS take of the movie does not need it and it does make the replicants the main characters. The relation between Roy and Priss is now the soul of the movie, and it works.

A very good fanedit that gives you what it was supposed to give.

Ranger613 edit of Blade Runner is a interesting take on a very familiar film. I've lost count the amount of times I've seen Blade Runner in it's various versions, and as with many others I'd consider it to be a true classic that stands the test of time. Most fanedits tend to extend the original film but Tears in the Rain cuts a lot of footage to successfully create a new take on Blade Runner.

The black and white works effectively, the quality isn't always perfect but for me it's not the main issue I have when viewing a fanedit. Both the visual editing and audio editing is impressive the slight negative would be the narrative is a little back and forth in it's arrangement and doesn't always work. An example would be when Deckard phones Rachael who turns him down only to appear in the next scene to shoot Leon.

Overall if your looking for yet another take on the Blade Runner film then this edit from Ranger613 is both interesting and different and is well worth checking out.

well this was a doozy of an edit.

I'm kind of like WORN OUT by Blade Runner tweaks and thsi intrigued me from the off...High Contrast B&W? Differnt story angle...HMMMM aint gonna work.....BUT IT DOES.

Off the bat, an incredibly bold reordering of material, especially at the beginning. The fact I have seen the original 30, 40, 50 times...I thought would be a hinderance but genius stroke 1...B&W. That pulled me into a different world. I was able to but into the structure immediatelt.

The audio work was by and large very good. There was on part at the beginning where there appeared to be an audio glitch in a shot where pris and Sebastian are about to go into the building but beyond that all great. It was interesting that by pulling out a lot of the love story element one got the feeling that Decker was just a bored pissed off cop (or was that Harrison Ford being pissed off with Ridley Scott)...nver mind...it worked.

For my taste, I love the B&W but wondered if it could have been even more aggressive in contrast? I might test it for myself to see? But I liked that look...A LOT.
Video editing was flawless. The music choice at the open set things up tonally very well indeed...and the ending felt more brutal as a result of what did (and did not) preceed it.

My two scores of 7 are reflective of the fact I dont think you could do a better job of the narrative with the material available and in that respect is indicative of what the clarity of plot felt like...It is not a reflection that I think more could be done.... On the contrary.

My 8 on visual quality is (as another reviewer commented) that I thought the B&W could have been more consistently graded but that could be an artefact of the original materials, my TV settings or even the source material (which is consistently dark so I imagine that this was far harder to grade than one might think).

I for one look forward to more bold re-imagining from Ranger 613 and thank him for the early view availability.

I for one will not be re-watching any Blade Runner fanedits again (I'm worn out & have settled on the Final Directors Cut)....EXCEPT THIS ONE sir!!!!....Cover printed, disc burnt...and on my shelf....(that's a high threshold indeed).

WELL DONE

W
