I don't watch as many fanedits I should these days, but there are some that people obviously want to see, and it appears that me too!

Why some fanedits brings a lot of interest?
- Clever take on a very well known and loved movie: check.
- Smart editing (here: reorganization of some scenes that feel like if they still happen in chronological order): check.
- A strong visual change that serves the purpose of the movie (here the B&W): check.
- A narrative that still works very well despite a lot of cuts: check.

Some minor things that bugs me a little:
- Some pixelate picture from time to time. But overall it's beautiful. Just a bit too much compression on the smoke, the fog... things like that.
- We see a police flying car stopping by the roof top in the background during the last scene (Roy's face down - blurry car in the background). It's not jarring as it is, but it made me think about what comes next in the original movie.
- Movie's maybe a bit too short now, but hey it's the price for having this interesting new take.

Of course I loved the relation between Deckard and Rachel in the original (it's the soul of the movie to me) but somehow THIS take of the movie does not need it and it does make the replicants the main characters. The relation between Roy and Priss is now the soul of the movie, and it works.

A very good fanedit that gives you what it was supposed to give.

Blade Runner has, for quite a long time, been one of my absolute favorite films. When I saw the Ranger was editing it, or rather, what he was doing and how much was getting cut, I was certainly skeptical.

Of course, Ranger has a very good track record with such projects, and this is certainly no different. The narrative worked quite well, and the arranging of the opening scenes was very well done, and dare I say, better put together than the original five cuts of the film. That said, there were a few things from the original version I missed. Namely, Deckard's story and his relationship with Rachel. There were a few bits that hinted at Deckard and Rachel having a deeper relationship (when she kills Leon, for example) but it never really goes anywhere. I think expanding on this would, at the very least, tie up a few loose ends (the story as it stands is still very strong).

The quality of the MP4 I watched was pretty good. The high contrast b/w worked exceptionally well, though there were a few shots that didn't look quite as sharp, but that may have been the source material.

Editing was also very well done. No complaints in that department!

Overall, I will definitely watch this edit again in the future. I'm still torn if the '92 Director's Cut or the '07 Final Cut is my preferred version, but this is a great alternate take if you're look for something different.

I can't say much without repeating what other reviews have said. In short, I really enjoyed this edit. It's an interesting, creative take on a classic. Well done. Highly recommended.

Excellent Noir rendition of Blade Runner.
Creative, using Roy's, and other replicants, point of view to drive the narrative.
Storywise, everything made sense - which is not always a given with such rearranging.
Pacing was good, I never got bored or felt the need to take a break.

Video: Others have written about the high contrast black n white.
I did not have as many problems, though a softer, grainier look would have been more appropriate to true Noir.
No problems whatsoever with audio. Excellent cutting and editing all around.

Note: This edit was a large file, but well worth chasing down if you are on the fence, deciding about watching.
Tears In The Rain is an inventive spin on a favorite film I have watched dozens of times.

Ranger613 edit of Blade Runner is a interesting take on a very familiar film. I've lost count the amount of times I've seen Blade Runner in it's various versions, and as with many others I'd consider it to be a true classic that stands the test of time. Most fanedits tend to extend the original film but Tears in the Rain cuts a lot of footage to successfully create a new take on Blade Runner.

The black and white works effectively, the quality isn't always perfect but for me it's not the main issue I have when viewing a fanedit. Both the visual editing and audio editing is impressive the slight negative would be the narrative is a little back and forth in it's arrangement and doesn't always work. An example would be when Deckard phones Rachael who turns him down only to appear in the next scene to shoot Leon.

Overall if your looking for yet another take on the Blade Runner film then this edit from Ranger613 is both interesting and different and is well worth checking out.
