In the words of Janice from the tv show Friends, "OH. MY. GOD!"
Before I get ahead of myself, my brief thoughts on the original. I liked a lot the theatrical version and I looved the extended edition. So, I didn't come here for a fanfix, I came because I was intrigued of the editor's premise, a very different, grounded film. And that's what I got!

This edit is a testament to what a talented editor can achieve if he has a vision and a lot of resource material to work with. The movie is three hours long, plus some unused scenes from trailers etc, so lots of stuff to go through. And voilà, a whole new film emerged!

Technical wise, although it's been some time since I watched it but I didn't have a fanedit account back then to make a review, it was excellent. I don't remember noticing the changes (obviously I knew what was missing) or "feel" that something was tampered with. Everything was smooth. When I rewatch it, if I do notice something, I will edit my review. Nevertheless, a job well done here!

And now the important part, the narrative. Guys, I couldn't believe what I was watching. I couldn't believe that there was a different movie, whithin the movie that I already loved. This was a BvS, without ANY other subplot, beside just that, Batman not trusting his own guts, let alone a godlike being chilling on earth. The narrative was excellent, nothing was missing and everything, for these two, made sense. The only reason I graded with a 9 the narrative, is for DCEU continuity. You can watch this after MoS or even watch WW after, but JL is out of the question. But it doesn't matter! This is an experience on its own!

So, this is recommended for anyone who disliked the original or, like me, just wants more of DC and doesn't mind seeing a different version of what he already loves, without bothering about continuity!

Thank you reeseevans and thanks to anyone who read my review!

I am one of the few who enjoyed the 'BvS Ultimate Edition', so when I heard about this edit I was intrigued. That film, although superior to the theatrical version, is still rife with odd contrivances and over abundance of character introductions; so I knew the average viewer would be bored and confused with talks of the White Portuguese or Bruce Wayne's dream within a dream. This is why, now that I have watched 'Man of Steel' with my non-cinema enthused partner, I felt this fan edit could help her enjoy and appreciate the parts of the movie I liked the most.

The edit plays out pretty much the same (although cleverly omitting any references to Wonder Woman or Doomsday) and nicely condenses the story into one that feels far less convoluted than the original. I especially enjoyed the bath scene being put at the end as it changed the feeling of that scene entirely, as well as showing a growing relationship between Lois and Clark across the film instead of them already being together as in the original. My partner still found the story confusing and drawn out, and we both felt that the "Martha" scene could've been changed but search me as to how one might go about that. The little flashbacks were a nice touch but the overall "out of nowhere" feel to the original scene is inescapable, even to a DCEU newcomer.

I however enjoyed the edit, but I'm a sucker for Zimmer and Junkie XL's score for Superman's funeral and the over-the-top military presence in the original, so I felt the ending's absence sorely. But that isn't a slight on the editor as the only way to incorporate Superman's death would have been for Batman to kill him (which would have saved us the "Martha moment") or have Clark drown off-screen in the bath with Lois (which could’ve led to an even stranger Aquaman cameo). But as I said before the bath scene being moved to the end was very sweet, as both myself and my partner felt it rounded the film off nicely.

Overall I found I liked it less than the Ultimate Edition, more than the Theatrical Version and left me wanting to see an edit where Batman kills Superman. It is very professionally edited and my partner didn't even know it wasn't the original film as I only told her after we watched it. A solid fan edit, but I think I've been indoctrinated by Snyder's penchant for muddled storytelling and shells falling in slow motion, both of which I look forward to in HBO’s upcoming Justice League.

Excellent edit of the movie and makes it 100x better than the original theatrical cut. I always felt that the story was overly complicated by missing plot points and details (partially fixed by the ultimate edition) but this edit makes it so much more simple and understandable. Being able to easily follow the plot made the movie so much more suspenseful and the drama between Batman and Superman so much more palpable. SPOILER ALERT ******** I like that the Doomsday ending was left out as it was so superfluous to the rest of the plot. My one complaint with this edit was that it felt TOO SHORT. I get that part of this was due to Doomsday being left out but the ending felt a little too rushed for me. For example, after the infamous "Martha" scene the movie cuts directly to batman getting into his plane to save Superman's mom but leaves out the part where they discuss who is going after who which makes the cut so abrupt and leaves you wondering why he decided to go save Superman's mom rather than Superman doing it himself. Now I understand that Lois' dialogue mentions the Scout Ship but perhaps her dialogue could've been cut and Batman's dialogue also cut to simply say "They need you". In addition, I don't remember exactly how it went in the original cut but I wish there was a more smooth way to transition from Martha being saved to Lex being in prison. That part also felt abrupt. Also, why cut out Batman jumping from his Bat-plane??? I was so disappointed not to see that because it was badass and one of the few highlights of the original. Lastly, was there anyway to include a little bit more Superman? I think the while the brooding Superman was overdone there were some beautiful moments in the Ultimate Edition that made a lot of honest sense with everything that's happened. Him seeing his father on the mountain was one of those moments. Perhaps there's a happy medium somewhere Superman can die and truly have HIS moment in the movie but have the movie as coherence of this cut as well as the superfluous Justice League seeds left out.
Anyways, those are my few complaints and I'm not sure if any other way was really possible but either way I appreciate this movie so much more now. Snyder did have some amazing scenes shot incredibly well but the way the movie was cut could've made so much more sense. Also loved the ending with Superman surviving and joining Lois. That was a perfect ending for him. Such a shame that it took a fanedit to get it right but I guess that's the world we live in. This movie was near and dear to my heart as I followed all of the news leading up to its release so thank you for redeeming it for me!

Let me start by saying I did not care for the unedited version of Batman Vs. Superman, nor am I a huge fan of either character. That said, I enjoyed this fantastic edit from start to finish. The edited story is much simpler, easier to follow, more mature, and satisfying. Chalk up another movie saved by fan editors. Highly recommended.

Wow wow wow I loved this fan-edit, it removes everything to do with the justice League, it feels like man of steel 1.5. the story focuses on the conflict between bats and supes. The changes made are great and i much prefer the flow of the film. I did miss some of the doomsday plot with luthor but this is an excellent piece of work well done.
