Batman v Superman: No Justice is a fan edit worth your time.

To start, this new fan edit has a better, faster pace. The trimming of scenes are flawless, leaving no traces of it being tampered with from the original movie. (cutting out Jimmy being Jimmy for example) And to be honest, letting that photographer just be a CIA agent, and NOT Jimmy, is much better. Small choices are also made on Lex Luther, to make him seem less twitchy. Though we have to live with what ever parts of the performance we were left with anyway to help the story move, it is better and easier for people to digest.

It's hard not to imagine your own fan edit of this movie, especially if you view it multiple times for the parts that work. Having said that, the movie's edit is not flawless. There are certain moments in the batmobile chase scene that should have been left in (such as Batman putting a locator on the truck) but for those who were thrown off by Batman ramming into a car killing several people, will be very happy with how this scene was spliced together. It is a scene that always belonged in the middle of the movie for balancing purposes, but that is on the film itself, and not something a fan edit will fix.

The selling point for this edit is the third act. The thing everyone paid money to see. Batman verses Superman. Though some more pointers could go to the editing of setting the scene up (like Lois just knowing to go to Gotham without Superman telling her where he is off to) it is still the fight you came to see. This edit will not change your opinion on how much you enjoyed, or did not enjoy the fight. There was a cool little line from the trailer, absent from the finished product, I was happy to hear make its way into this scene.

This cut of the film is very well made, no matter what personal ideas one might have for their own edit. The story removes all notions of a connected universe, such as Justice League, Wonder Woman, even Doomsday. It is as it probably always should have been. A movie about Batman at odds with Superman. I highly recommend for anyone who wanted to see this film in an alternate reality, where the cinematic universe is not a requirement for your comic book movie.

Go watch BATMAN V SUPERMAN: NO JUSTICE.

The first time I watched BvS in theatres I had one of those experiences where I genuinely wanted to leave. A film that I hoped would answer the criticism levelled at Man of Steel and finally deliver a new incarnation of Superman, was in reality a convoluted mess through WB's misguided need to play catch-up to Marvel. The ultimate cut was a better experience with story threads that now seemed to amount to something, but still excessively long and poorly paced for the story that was being told.

With BvS No Justice we get a much more streamlined film that focuses on the two main characters with improved pacing and storytelling. Most of the principals benefit in some way. Lois in particular felt more purposeful in this version.

I loved the omission of Wonder Women, the Justice League cameos and removal of the fight with Doomsday. Action for the sake of it is never a good idea and killing Superman off after barely establishing the hero felt unearned.

What didn't work for me;

- When Clark leaves for Mexico the inserted MoS flying shot is clearly daytime when the scene occurs at night.
- Martha's line 'you don't owe this world a thing, you never did'. The rest of this scene is fine however the last line rings very cold.
- Removing Batman firing a tracking device onto the van. Batman had no idea that he was going to run into Superman, so to think he would have found time is a bit of a stretch.
- Removal of the scene between Superman and Lois on the balcony after Capital Hill explosion. Granted the silly dialogue about 'Superman' being the dream of a farmer from Kansas made no sense. Otherwise this scene seems necessary, due to the pay off of lead being found to conceal the explosive and Lois's line to Superman about coming back for her after she is later rescued.
- Removal of Batman jumping out of the batwing before smashing into the warehouse.
- The lack of ambient sounds and sound effects for the first half of the scene of Clark entering Lois's apartment, makes the scene seem unfinished.

Some things can't be fixed. In particular the motives for Batman and Superman's showdown, both characters behaving like psychos and the fact that Superman doesn't go to greater lengths to reason with Bruce all the while knowing his mother is in danger. This is all bad set-up on the part of the film makers and no amount of editing wizardry is going to fix this.

Much has been said by fellow reviewers of the need to reinstate Bruce's dialogue 'Martha won't die tonight'. Whilst in principle I agree, when watching the edit I can fully appreciate why it was cut. As to show Superman back on his feat and handing the baton to Batman to rescue his own mother wouldn't have seemed right. Especially in the absence of anything else for him to do.

All in all a marvellous fan edit and my preferred version of a film which previously I felt unlikely watch again or often. Great work Reese!!

I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed the Ultimate Edition very much. I thought it handled the introduction of Batman and Wonder Woman very well and it managed to give a plausible reason for each hero fighting and later coming together. However, I do think BvS tried to cram at least three movies (Batfleck, Man of Steel 2, and Batman vs Superman) into one with a Wonder Woman short attached.
I watched this edit hoping to get a more concise story that wasn't interrupted by random bits of world building. In a basic sense, that's what I got. As I watched it, I thought "that was a good cut", "maybe should have left that part in", but ultimately it was a good narrative for the story. I was, however, a little disappointed by the ending because I read the change one way and saw it another when I watched it; and I didn't think it worked as well as I thought it might.
I think anyone looking for a shorter more concise version of BvS should give this edit a try.

I registered here specifically to add my +1 about this edit. The original theatrical cut felt like being dragged through mud, and the "Ultimate Edition" borders on unwatchable -- I haven't had the stamina to finish watching it, and probably never will.

The BvS: No Justice fanedit trims the film down to the sweet spot range (between 1.5 and 2 hours), and removes the extra badly-interwoven plot lines that confused everyone who isn't a diehard DC fan. It's OK to link films together, but the writers' and director's vision of that was so terribly ham-handed in BvS. It was just Too Much.

For a fanedit which is basically a remix, I saw and heard only a couple jump cuts, nowhere near noticeable enough to be jarring. Editing is the name of the game, and *that* was beautifully executed.

reeseevans, you should be working in Hollywood. Well done.

Audio/Video Quality:
This edit looked and sounded great. The only problem I had visually was that in the "they were hunters" scene, the blues were a little grainy. But that's not your fault at all.

Visual Editing:
Incredible. The color correction was well executed and made the movie look much less saturated than the dour original. However, there were some little clips in which their inclusion didn't really make sense in context with the overall scenes (Martha hugging young Clark, the gun right before "I believe you"). Another nitpick I had was that in the transition from Lex's Party to Mexico, Superman flies upward in what looks like the daytime, even though the party's at night - but that's just me.

Audio Editing:
This was also really well done. There were some scenes though where the audio fading out definitely clashed with the incoming audio.

Narrative:
Even though I would've chosen to keep the WW and Doomsday stuff (to connect the edit with the DCEU) and cut out the Africa subplot scenes, for what you were trying to do, this was definitely handled well. I liked how you edited Batman's individual action scenes to give the impression that he chooses not to kill. I don't understand why Snyder, Terrio, and Goyer chose to make this incarnation of Batman kill (especially when he hates Superman for killing tons of people), so I'm glad that you chose to fix this glaring flaw. I also liked that you cut out the scene where Martha gets kidnapped. It makes the audience find about Lex's plan along with Superman, making the scene much more dramatic. However, there was one scene that you cut out that I think should have been concluded. The scene with "Martha won't die tonight" should have stayed in, as this is the scene that leaves Batman and Superman on good terms, and without its inclusion, we don't why Batman is even going to the warehouse. Even with the fact that KGBeast is there, we never see Batman reach the conclusion that Lex is the bad guy, which is essential (along with the "Save Martha" scene) in Batman recognizing the good in Superman.

Enjoyment:
Despite some flaws, this is a really good and enjoyable edit overall. I would say that this is a better movie to watch for a common movie viewer. Many people in my opinion would not understand what was going on in the Knightmare, the Flash scene, or any scene involving metahumans and Doomsday. This edit makes BvS a lot more simple and concise for an everyday audience, and especially for people like me who don't want to sit through a dull, three hour borefest like the Ultimate Edition of BvS.

Great job, and I'm looking forward to seeing more clever edits from you in the future!
