Dwight Fry's Batman: Descent into Mystery, more than two years in the making, is one of the best fanedits I've ever had the pleasure of viewing, and hands down my new favorite Batman film! The amount of effort put into this really shows, and at no point did this feel like a fanedit. Great work!

The audio and visual editing are top notch. Nothing was out of place and the audio work is very professional. The new color correction is remarkable and very film noirish.

The fact that you removed the romance element of the film while simultaneously improving the narrative proves just how pointless and unneeded it really was. Batman is now not only the main focus of the film (Which is one of the main problems with the original), but he is also more faithful to the comics. The intercutting between Batman's and Joker's origins works very well. The removal of Prince's music and out of character moments makes for a much improved movie!

The extra features were very intriguing, particularly Bluyoda's surreal The Killing Joke short. The color correction comparison and black and white reveal looked great, and overall the presentation is wonderful!

I can gladly say this is not only the best Batman movie ever, but also one of my new favorite movies, and will earn a place on my shelf. Thank you for a very enjoyable birthday evening Dwight! Now you definitely have do to Batman Returns!

This was brilliant! I am a big lover of Batman 89, despite its flaws. I've been following Dwight's progress for the last year and the end result was well worth the wait.

No more "You made me, I made you." Less Vale. Less Prince. Batman is more Batman. Bruce Wayne is more mysterious. I loved it.

The bonuses were a nice touch. Blueyoda's short was very interesting and the other two featurettes (Color Correction and Alternate Joker Reveal) were awesome.

Thunderous applause for this edit.

I enjoyed this a lot. The Vicky Vale romance was a always a bit contrived and distracting; likewise Alfred letting her into the Batcave; the removal of the=is subplot was much appreciated and worked well. I did however miss the Jack Napier/ Joker/ Wayne murders link more than I thought I would, and perhaps keeping this -- while ditching the Vale/ Wayne romance -- would make this really good fanedit a great one. Technically, its top-notch: edits are smooth and seamless. Thanks again!

Wow, what a tough one to review. I'm a big fan of Burton's Batman movies, but Batman himself I can take or leave. I've never read a comic book, and in fact Batman '89 and Batman Returns are the only two superhero movies I've had any interest in. I never had problems with things like Vicki at the Batcave, the romance between Bruce and Vicki, the Partyman sequence, and so on. Watching this with an open mind was tough to do, but I did my best.

While I can't say I enjoyed this as much as the original, I will give Dwight credit for accomplishing his goals. The edit is very well executed, and despite my enjoyment of the material that has been excised, the movie works just fine the way Dwight has cut it down. It's a very good effort that I have no problem recommending, if for no other reason that it provides a new take on an old(ish) classic.

I should note that I did wish the "To Bill" bit was done after the fade-out, rather than over the final shot of the movie. It felt a little heavy-handed to me.

And one odd note: I was very concerned during the opening credits because either the words or the background (couldn't tell which) seemed to be jumping around a little. However, after watching the edit, I popped in my original DVD, and it suffered the same issue. *shrug*

I give this a solid 8/10 overall, and it's only my personal preferences that keep me from rating this higher. Well done!

Hey everyone, growing up I would watch Batman '89 all the time. It was to the point where I knew the films ins and outs very well. I know most kids would normally get a disney movie to watch and that'd be their favorite. But mine was Batman '89. Michael Keaton is a great Batman. So when I heard that Dwight was fanmixing Batman '89, I was kinda curious to see how it'd turn out. It was a bit of a wait. However, I have to say that it was very much worth the wait.

It removes one of the clunkiest parts of Batman '89, the love story. It felt like it was shoe horned in. There were other scenes that just seemed to slow the film down. Instead of letting it play out. Now, Dwight has improved the film immensely by his changes. I'm not going to say what all they are to spoil it for those that haven't seen this yet. But, I'd highly recommend giving it a watch.
