This fan edit definitely succeded at what the editor wanted it does bring the best out of both films, but it doesn't make a good movie.
If you are a fan of those movies and want to rewatch them, watch this instead because it is just the two AvP films shortened and then combined,

However, as a single movie, It feels really wired that the movie wastes time building characters at the beginning of the film only for them to quickly die, and then the protagonist from the first half doesn't show up in the second film.
You either want to split it into 2 different movies each will be 80 minutes or reduce the focus from the characters of the first part, together it just doesn't work.

The video quality also has some issues aside from being available only at 480p there are also some big changes in colors from scene to scene and the parts from the other movies aren't in the same quality, but to be fair this is an old fan edit and Wraith has a lot of other fan edits that proves he is one of the best fan editors out there.

Watching these films for the first time in a long time, as Wraith's fanedit was a really enjoyable experience. I'm not close enough to the original studio edits to fully appreciate all the work that Wraith put into this Fanedit. However after watching this edit, it did feel like a cohesive extended film, rather than 2 films bolted together. Well done Wraith!

i was disappointed with AVP and for the most part enjoyed AVPR despite some scenes, but this fanedit removes the disappointing parts of the films, and focuses on the best of both films, and creates a story that respects the source material of each franchise.

this edit does use scenes from the 2006 film Apocalypto to help build the history that AVP tries to convey. I found the use of these scenes interesting, and helpful to the story. The scenes themselves do seem ever so slightly out of place, but that is not the fault of Wraith.

The pace stays consistent with the narrative. Both AVP and AVPR had pacing problems due to unnecessary scenes and dialogue that jarred with the rest of the film. In Outbreak, the removal of these scenes create a clearer mental picture, and a more overall focused theme, While AVPR itself does have a different theme and location, Wraith has done a great job in blending both movies together to keep a cohesive story.

Gotta say this was a cool edit! All the best parts of each movie were kept and all of the excess removed. It's not HD but I didn't feel like I was missing out because of how dark the second half is anyway. That is not a slight against Wraith, but AVPR as the movie proper was filmed so dark.

The audio was all worked perfectly and if I had to point to one thing that was off, it was in the back half of the movie when the group of people who were trying to get out of town split into 2 groups. One went to the center for an air lift to get them and the other went to the hospital to get a helicopter themselves. The group that went to the hospital was missing a person (at least 1 that I noticed) by the time they got to the roof and we have no idea what happened to that guy?

A massive improvement on the experience of watching these films. In particular the removal of the teenager scenes and other junk from requiem. I also really appreciate the changes to the score which incorporates music from the original films of the respective franchises. incorporating the scenes from apocalypto and outbreak was a great idea, although it was painfully obvious that the outbreak scenes were from a different movie.

combining these two films into one is a real challenge because they feature an entirely different cast of characters, different locations, etc. The one thing that ties it together is obviously the predalien hybrid. merging the two films does make sense because of this plotline and the overall rising threat to humanity over the course of the edit.

however, after the midpoint the pacing slows down to introduce the town and its characters. I would be curious to see a version that cuts requiem even more heavily. I could see the birth of the predalien as being near the end of the second act, then the wolf predator comes to earth and finds the town already in absolute chaos. The third act could be almost entirely focused on the predator's quest to destroy the aliens. just my two cents

overall a massive improvement as I said and worth checking out if you like the two franchises.
