Somehow, you can always tell a movie that was made in 1967 apart from any other year, I'm not sure what it is, but if it isn't Peter Sellers' presence, it's usually the adolescent "we're walking right up the line of an R-rating but not quite crossing it." Or just all the paisley shit everywhere.

Either way, this 30-years-later homage to the British films from the Summer of Love gets a much-needed dialling back of the childish toilet humour, and as someone who finds Mike Myers occasionally funny but not enough to watch him piss for the better part of five minutes, or fart in a hot tub for (seemingly) even longer, this edit is a gift. My partner who loves Austin Powers more than me, and hates fart jokes more than me, wished me to pass along my high marks as well. Thanks, Frink.

A simple edit. This doesn't tread any new ground or try to reinvent the story. It just does as promised: takes out the worst of the toilet humor letting the rest of the comedy shine through even more. Yeah, baby!

I watched the HD MKV. Picture quality was excellent. I also heard the echoey sounds in Dr. Evil’s lair and they bugged me (knocking points on A/V Quality). Editing was as smooth as Dougie’s bald head. The cuts worked well, awesome funny movie is still funny as hell.

A/V Quality - 8

Narrative - 9
Enjoyment - 9 (original 10)

(NOTE: Supposedly the editor has fixed the echo issues but I haven’t downloaded the V2 yet. If I ever check it out I’ll change the rating.)

So my thoughts while watching this and reviewing the cut list are that maybe this is not the AP movie that Frink should have started with. The potty humor in this one is really not that egregious and I really missed a couple of the scenes. I always get a good chuckle out of the post-thawing piss. I guess 'cause it reminds me of my morning pisses. I also thought you took out the best part of the Will Farrell death scene. When he says "you shot me" it never fails to crack me because of the surprised sound in his voice. Austin's fart poem and Fagina's reply "that was beautiful" was also missed. Those were the main three part I definitely missed. Everything else wasn't really missed especially the bathroom scene with Tom Arnold, which I was personally happy to see shortened.

The cuts seemed completely seamless to me, so kudos to your editing skills. however, I took note of the enhanced echo sounds in certain scenes and found it very distracting, but as discussed this may be due to the source material and not the editors fault. FYI - I was watching the MKV.

Really the one to start with should have been "The Spy Who Shagged Me" which contains way more than its fair share of gross out humor.

This should definitely be checked out and I recommend it for those who find the potty humor to be distracting. Personally, I have to say I prefer the original of this one, but I am looking forward to checking out "The Spy Who Shagged Me."

So its been YEARS since i've seen the original Austin Powers (probably at least 10 years, no exaggeration. So seeing as Frink had made an edit of the movie, I thought it'd be the perfect time to revisit it.

This is the first Frink edit I've watched from start to finish (I tried Ridiculous Menace and AOTR but they ended up not being my my cup of tea). I didn't read the cutlist before watching and I didn't rewatch the theatrical cut before watching this edit. But I did know that Frink had removed some of the potty humor.

The editing was pretty good. I did catch myself saying a few times "isn't there supposed to be a line or gag here?" but that was a consequence of remembering the original, the editing was damn near invisible for this edit!

Overall I enjoyed this edit. That being said I'll stick with the original. After viewing the cutlist, I missed most of the parts that Frink removed. But this is Frink's edit and not mine!

This edit is worth a watch, especially if you haven't seen the original in awhile and if you're like Frink and others who weren't fans of the potty humor in the theatrical cut.

Oh and a parting word to Frink, "Sanitized" is misspelled at the very end credits! Yeah, I went there!
