Aquaman: Special Edition is a good edit that makes the movie progress faster by removing some elements of the original movie and changing the order of events slightly. The transitions from the re ordering of events is seamless and makes viewing quality comparable to the original. You still get the same level of detail to the story narration; even with some of the original dialogue removed. If this version was shown to someone who had not seen the original one; I believe it would be well received by them.

I like the fact that Black Manta was tightened up some as a character. When I seen the theatrical release I was hooked on the Manta theme and still am today. The fight scene on the sub was shortened but this did not take away from the impact of the characters introduction. By changing this scene it delivered a more serious tone that Black Manta was skilled and formidable villain. With this portrayal I think it emphasizes on the original Black Manta theme from the film. It gives a more ominous feeling for the character itself and what he could do in the future.

Overall, this edit was enjoyable to watch and I would like to thank the editor Wakeupkeo for taking their time give us this version to watch!

Hello everyone!

I finally got around to watch this edit! I wanted to do it when I would do a DCEU marathon and now with the upcoming movie of Flash coming out in two weeks, it was the perfect time to do it. Also, I want to say that this is like the 4th or 5th edit I'm watching from Wakeupkeo and I got say, he's the man! Even for movies that unfortunately could not be salvaged for me, like Wonder Woman 2 or Birds of Prey, I fully appreciated his work and the effort in saving those films. Only Suicide Squad had a little bit rushed/choppy first act, but still it was my go to in this DCEU marathon!

Before moving on with the edit, I want to say that I really really liked the original film, with all its faults. And guess what Wakeupkeo did...yeap, addressed almost all of those! (you can't change the extravaganza of happy colors flying around). I did not miss these 19 minutes not even for a second! Actually, I did not even notice from where they were missing, which is a testament to the editing skills of Wakeupkeo! I wouldn't notice where a cut is even if my life depended on it.

I have only three nitpickings with the edit. 1st I could really do without the fighting videogame style blue screens with the pros and cons of each fighter when Orm and Arthur are about to fight in the arena. And maybe cut out the giant octopus playing drums, which is right afterwards? I mean, even for a movie lighthearted as this, although the Trench sequence was pure horror, this was too much. The second is Arthur and Mera's first kiss in the final battle. I believe it would work better if the scene ended with the "use your element" line from Mera. I don't mind having a good first kiss, actually I love those, but the timing here plus the ridiculous background of CGI colors behind them, was too much and ruined the scene. Lastly, but I'm not sure if this could be done, maybe a little more trimming with the CGI fest at the end?

I can't stress enough how strongly I recommend this edit! Obviously, this is my go to for future DCEU marathons and I urge you all to check it out, unless you completely hated the original movie!

Thank you Wakeupkeo and thanks to everyone who read this review!

Even though I loved the original movie, my minor problem was that it felt a little like a marvel film, by tryikg to keep things in the tone of the DCEU it helps that problem greatly, thank you for this edit WakeUpKeo!

Absolutely brilliant! Well done WUK!

A lot of the more irritating bits are gone now, and I like the rescoring of the Black Manta prep-scene, etc.

Think this will be my go-to version of Aquaman from now on. I've always wanted to cut my own one as my first fanedit ever, but this one accomplished almost everything I'd have done.

(For info - no comment on the fanedit itself at all - the possible bits I'd change from this, which are more personal than anything else: Remove the "pee on it" line. Remove the plinky plonky music bit in the desert designed to show how 'fun' the banter is. Remove the single half-line about the world needing Arthur to be "more than a king // a hero" (I think it would work as "Atlantis has always had a king - now it needs something more [cut to] a king fights for his nation - you fight for everyone"). Remove the profoundly un-physics-y bit of Arthur dragging those inflatable liferafts at high speed after the submarine rescue.)

Either way, in short - fantastic edit, far better than the theatrical, and fulfils the brief of "to keep Arthur dumb and funny" but remove plot-holes, etc.

Oh, and the small changes to the intro and ending are brilliant. The dock ending is perfect.

Thank you so much for this. I strongly recommend to all.
