Brief Synopsis:
Alligator Elongator'd takes all of the additional scenes exclusively featured in the TV cut of the film and seamlessly adds them back into the theatrical cut so that you still have all of the blood and gore and gator poop while also spending some extra time with our hero and his receding hairline.
Intention:
I've always been a fan of Alligator whenever I could catch it on the old Syfy channel. I was literally shopping for the blu ray when I found out that SHOUT! Factory was putting out a beautiful set that included a remaster of the TV cut. I decided that once I got it in my hands, I would seek to bring all of the additions in to make for a complete viewing experience. Some of the additional shots don't add much and the occasional extended scene was cut for a reason, but all in all, you get to spend a little more time watching this gem of a horror film.
Special Thanks:
Dwight Fry and Heathen3017 for previewing and catching some of the silly mistakes I made on the first go-round!

Alligator – Elongator’d (Alligator - 1980) - MusicEd921

Filesize = 9.8 GB, Video = 1920 X 1080p AVC, Audio = 221 kbps AAC, 2-Channel Stereo. No Subs.

Some give this flick a cursory view, then dismiss as a "Jaws" knockoff.
Please! All the “Jaws” films combined would never be a funny as this.
From the opening gator rasslin’ done gone wrong, to Harry Lime Lives, this is packed with sly moments.
Of course, you have to pay attention, and you have to be knowledgeable of the in-jokes.
The alligator in the sewers is almost as fearful as the rat in the toilet, rising up to take a bite during an exposed moment.
Characters seem basic tropes, though the baddies are especially well played.
I did not notice most the additions to this (meaning, good job), and I have viewed the original frequently.
(My wife and I had a weirdly memorable experience in the Everglades with dozens of alligators, in an era that was more free range than today.)
Note: Filesize is large, though not immense. I would burn and keep, but cannot. Those who can, this is a great, old school, Saturday popcorn movie.

I've always loved Alligator. One of the most fun and funniest Creature Features of the 1980s, that goes way beyond the apparent Jaws ripoff it is. If one pays attention to the hidden details, it is absolutely hilarious. But you'll likely need to watch it several times to catch them.

And this edit is the absolutely best version of the film. Even "elongator'd", it's a pretty short movie and the pacing does not suffer, and we get some new goodies and callbacks. My favorites were the famous attack on the little girl (I usually dislike fake-outs like this in horror movies as they rarely dare to put the child character in actual danger and thus the scenes become predictable, but this works wonders because it gives the viewer some false security that'll be shattered in the swimming pool scene); the bit of David fixing his hair with his fingers which is actually a call back to an earlier conversation in the police station; and Brock hilariously showing off his animal impression, thinking he's being smooth and failing miserably. This guy is pretty much Zapp Brannigan. And he steals the show, I wish there were more scenes featuring him.

It goes without saying that the technical aspects are top-notch as usual in Ed's releases. If you like this movie at all, this is the definitive version. Loads of fun!
