Brief Synopsis:
The best parts of Halloween II, (H81) Hall0ween 2018 (H18), and Halloween Kills (H21), To make one film that functions as a direct sequel to the original.
Intention:
While I enjoyed both H18 and H21, I found that tonally they both swung too far into the extremes of humor and terror/gore. Many scenes are overlong. Halloween 2018 and 2021 function butter as one film, IMO.
Other Sources:
Covers of John Carpenters original score, from youtube
Joseph Bennie

Halloween cover by
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross

Editing Details:
Like my "For Your Eyes Only" cut, the idea was to tone down the humor, and replace the modern score with some more *classic* bits of music. Additionally, I wanted to tone down the violence that seemed to revel in showing the audience how gross some of the kills were. Pacing is tighter, subplots that deviate from the core story are trimmed or eliminated. I wanted a good balance of genuinely scary 70-80's slasher movie, without the extremes of the new films. I wanted to to be more fun... but less funny, Scary and violent, but less grim and horrific.

Cuts and Additions:
The edit plays H18 and H21 as chronologically to events of the night as possible. .

The cuts and changes are in the hundreds, but the basic idea is as follows:

Added 70's era Universal logo
Opens with the final minutes of Halloween 1978
Michael lurks the alleys and encounters the older couple, loomis waves down the police (Halloween II)
Lonnie gets bullied and encounters michael, but tighter editing (Halloween Kills)
Hawkins and the other office encounter michael at the myers house, michael is captured (Halloween Kills)
Opening Credits, newly constructed
Podcasters meet Michael at asylum. very shortened, less inmates screaming ( Halloween '18)
Podcasters meet Lori. much shorter. less table-setting with Lori's survivals habits.
Cemetery scene removed
restaurant scene shortened
Lori removed from the Michael-gets-on-the-bus scene
The father and son who find the bus scene is shortened. kill is less graphic
Michael's kill during trick-or-treat scene is less graphic
Tommy and crew are introduced right after the trick or treat kill.
Tommy's first scene is shortened. a quick cut flashback of tommy is added to match that everyone else gets a flashback cut.
Dance scene and babysitter scene is shortened . less humor, less talking.
Big John and little john are introduced after the dance scene
Tommy and crew learn of the murders right after Hawkins is found,
escaped inmate, the lynch mob subplot removed

there is extensive trimming in nearly every scene, to tighten the action and reduce dialogue heavy scenes that don't move the story forward of everyone.

The running time at the moment is 156 minutes, not including the end credits. total time is 161 minutes

The idea intrigued me. Having just made a mashup of Halloween 1 & 2 and being a fan of the newer movies, I appreciated the idea of H18 and Halloween Kills becoming one movie, which is a first of the later sequels. The changes listed and the narrative intrigued me. I finally got to sit down and watch this edit. Overall, I recommend this edit to anyone trying to see the complete night he came back 40 years later. Seeing this editor play scenes from both movies in chronological order was awesome and a first as far as the new sequels. It was enjoyable but came with its flaws. I think the editing overall was professional and the editor demonstrated that they have great skill with audio editing. The music additions and changes felt official in the sense of sound. I felt some of the music choices were wrong however. Some of the blending of old music with new music felt imbalanced. I felt some of the choices from H1 and H2 did not fit in to some of the scenes do to the inherent differences of the era of music. It simply did not match and noticeably some it of it felt out of place. The visual cuts and and blending of audio to following scenes were professionally done and seemless. I did not notice any hard visual cuts. However, the early titles and titles were visually hard on the eyes. It was clear credits from actual films were cut and placed on black backgrounds. One scene of Laurie during H18 was seen to have similar hard video quality as Laurie was placed on a black background of a closet and noticeably unnatural. The volume got intensely louder as we cut from H18 to Kills, despite scenes from Kills being scene placed during timeline of H18 with comparable audio levels. The narrative overall worked well. I felt some of the characters and scenes of H18 were trimmed a bit too much, more specifically the podcast duo and the babysitter. It felt a bit choppy with these characters and a bit early in this edit but progressively played out well. I felt Halloween Kills was edited extremely well. I enjoyed the film but there are obvious universal issues with the film that don't need to be mentioned here. The editor did a great job highlighting what was great about that movie specifically and making those aspects work with their narrative. I felt some of the gore was cut a bit much too, specifically with H18. Maybe this was an attempt to make it feel more like the goal of the original Halloween? I'm not sure, but I would have liked to have seen those aspects trimmed less. Overall, I had a great time watching this. Thank you for bringing these two movies together. I look forward to Halloween Ends and the future of all of these movies possibly together. Thanks Nostromo!!

Had the pleasure of watching this Fanedit a few days ago and was interested with nostromo777's difficult task of integrating Halloween II (1981), Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021) into one coherent storyline. Ultimately, this Fanedit works. I thoroughly enjoyed the viewing experience and was impressed with how nostromo777 combined all 3 films (particularly 2018 and Kills). Opening with Halloween II (1981) and the flashback from Kills sets this Fanedit off on the right foot and retains that energy throughout the rest of its' runtime. Apart from a few sudden jump-cuts and moments where the original audio soundtrack could be heard, the editing is top-notch and the new score choices definitely heighten the suspense. The removal of many distracting sideplots that do not work (most notably the hospital patient in Kills), allows for the story to stay focused. Overall, I would recommend this Fanedit if you are looking for a more streamlined version of 2018 and Kills.

Thanks for the review! If you could PM me some specifics about where you see jumpcuts or hear old music, perhaps I can clean them up. I have found that the error is usually in Premiere's final render.
